Nigerian calls to my mobile about dead relatives

I keep getting calls to my mobile, saying he is son of dead aunty, ive played him along a bit, he is quite persistent. sent a text asking whose phone is it, i of course did not tell him, he keeps calling I just hang up. Ive even sent text back insulting him using nigerian swear words. Has anyone had this too? and what to do, as my mobile operator wont block this number.

Stop replying to him and ignore him and he'll go away, eventually.

Or change your phone number.

I am curious - did he announce his nationality?

Please don't bait or insult scammers when you are contacted with your real life details. The chances are slim that they will show up at your door, but that's not to say it hasn't happened!

If you want to mess with this scammer I recommend purchasing a throw away prepaid phone and calling his number back at your own discretion.

As for your own number there is nothing you can do if your provider will not block the call. These scum aren't operating within the law anyhow and any Do-Not Call Registries really would not deter them.

This is a very popular scam that I first heard of when I was in Lithuania, my grandmother got a call in the middle of the night saying that her daughter is in a car accident just outside the city, and they need money to help, but her daughter wasnt in lithuania at the time and havent lived there for years, she heard on the radio that is the recent scam that was 2 years ago. You need a galaxy or iphone i asked my friend who works in IT, and he said that you can block that number on the phone itself. I hope this helps.

I use Samsung phones.. and one thing I like about them is the ability to block numbers.. of course they have to be complete numbers not those numbers shown when you call from skype and other internet phones.. so far I do not know of any other phones which has this function
