I don't live in German, but I've been there a lot - and I do know they have good beer, good pork and great sausages. Very Happy

I don't see any problem at all. Isn't Germany rather a safe country for a solo girl traveller? I'd love to hear about your experience.

Slightly, what weapon did you carry in Germany? How about other countries? I've travelled quite a lot on my own but I don't usually take any weapon with me.

The further East you go, the heavier the arsenal needed. For example: I wouldn't visit Ukraine without leaving the safety of my tank. And once you head into Russia, you're talking nukes (a small one will do).

I found a flamethrower to be ample for Germany.

OK seriously. Western Europe is one of the safest places on Earth. That said, it has it's shitty areas just like anywhere else. They're not that easy to stray into and if you do, the likelihood of anything bad happening is still marginally above zero. Just use commonsense and you'll be OK.

Pre 911 I carried a pocket knife to and from Europe. Only place it ever was questioned was one time when I had to deplane in Switzerland. It set off the metal dector and I gave it to the guy in the booth. He said I couldn't have it on the plane and I told him keep it if he had to. He handed it back and sent me on my way.

All of my travel over there was the mid-late 1980's. I never felt unsafe anywhere I travelled over there. The first year I went, my Sister and my Brother-in-law stuffed me on a train by myself outside of Stuttgart and left to my own devices to get back to Luxembourg. My BIL did tell me to put my wallet in my sock when we saw the leaning tower of Piza though (Pick-pockets). About the un-safest I've ever felt was when the cab driver dropped me off a half block from the bus station in NYC. I had to carry 3 bags and figured I wasn't gonna make it alive.
