Welcome to Eater and I'm glad you didn't get scammed.

As tempting as it is we do not encourage pointing out mistakes scammers make such as misspelling the name of a country. This is the kind of thing that alerts people to the fact they're being scammed. Upon being educated on his misspelling he can rectify the situation thus making his scam more believable next time.

Did you check the e-mail header to see where the mail was sent from? It is possible that the scammer is based in Australia, and not necessarily Africa.

You didn't really point out a spelling mistake, though you did potentially educate him in how to improve his format by making the remark you did. Which is about the last thing you, as a baiter, should be doing.

I'm based in Australia myself. 'Tanzania' was a jibe at the real origin of
the email. You're right about 'educating the scammer' since it was almost
convincing (especially given there are those in Australia that write with
poor grammar). The first email was brief and it wasn't so obvious, but
then the scammer had to write more to try and complete the scam.

The email came from Nigeria, not Tanzania. Please don't tell lads about Eater. They generally don't understand what we're doing, but still.
