Help with scammer trying to drag my name thru the mud

I'm a model and actress and it has come to my attention that someone has been using my name to scam people out of money. It's a whole lot easier to pull this scam when a zillion search engine results for my name come up so I'm sure this is why I have been targeted. They are not using my photos thankfully but regardless, I do not want my name associated with this. Here are the links that explain what they're doing:

Hi and welcome to Eater.

Although it sounds daft to use the details of a celebrity and most people would switch on to it, for the type of person the scammer is targetting, it can be a pretty convincing way to tempt them into the scam.

Unfortunately, I have to tell you that it's a by-product of being a celebrity and having your name on the net - they find it and they'll use it. There's really not a lot you can do about it other than hope that Google picks up on posts like this one, but sadly, the scammers' prospective victims don't always use the search function.

In the meantime, hopefully some of our members will take up your challenge and bait these criminals.

Thanks for the welcome. It's confusing a bit because I'd think they would google me and see all the search results under my name and none for the girl who supposedly has the same name as me and start getting suspicious from there. But I guess people have apparently fell for this stuff which is why I am now hearing about it.

Thanks so much. That's why I came here. I heard about the site thru a friend and he suggested I post. Do you recommend that I post this in the Dating Scammer category as well?

If you put romance+scam into Google, it should give you a list of sites where you can sign up and leave your message.

It also might help if you put a warning stating that scammers are using your details on your FB page or any other fan pages which you might have.
Getting the word out is the best weapon which you have at your disposal.

Good advice. I cannot edit my Twitter profile as the powers that be have already verified me and any additions or remissions to my profile may cause me to lose my check mark. Unfortunately not worth the risk. It was hard enough to get it so I'm erring on the side of caution with this. Hope ya'll understand. Regarding FB and my other site, that should be easy enough to alter and I agree that this warning should be placed to prevent others from getting taken advantage of. Do you think I am in any danger due to the fact that I have taken such an open stance against this sort of thing? I saw the warning letter that they send out when you join here and it got me a little spooked. Pro-wrestler and all...

Normally we discourage anyone on here from giving any personal info, as death threats from angry lads who have been safaried or tattooed etc are common. As you are here to protect your name, and lead Google searches to the fact that your ID is being 'borrowed' by romance scammers there would be no point in hiding it, though.

If you decided you want to actively scam bait, you would need a brand new ID that doesn't link to the real you. We could sort that out if necessary.

None at all.

The scammers using your profile are almost certainly operating from internet cafes in West Africa. They have neither the funds, the know-how, the papers or the balls to pay you a visit.

They would view your defending your name as just one of the hazards of their job. It's paperwork that they've got to work around - nothing more. And they certainly wouldn't dare mess with someone who is in the "public eye". Even if they could pay you a visit (which they can't), it wouldn't be worth their time or effort - they've far more important things to get on with in their miserable, little lives (like just surviving on a day-to-day basis).
You've no need to worry.

As Roy says though - scam-baiting is a different story. We stay anonymous because we actively go after them and try to hit them as hard as we can.
