no, it was an 80-year-old woman in Spain. It has been all over the news since its still summer and they don't have anything else to report on. There's a limit on how long you can carry out the whole "it's hot in spain during the summer" thing.

Why is everyone calling it a fresco? A fresco has pigments bonded to the crystals of the lime or gypsum in the substrate and would not flake off. It appears the the original artist pressed canvas or some other woven material against the wall material as it was drying to give it a texture that the paint could stick to after the wall was dried. That is not a fresco.

Its about as fresco as this-

That is awful. Fingers crossed for the restoration people. However, if that fails, it could be saved with the a bit of spin:

The alllegorical Christ for the modern world. Dark mourning robes reflect that individuality is being buried under the trend for globalisation. The blurred, indistinct facial features reference the global intermingling of DNA that ensures no one racial trait is dominant, giving us a Christ for all races. And the obscured mouth, open yet seemingly still covered with a fine gauze, is caught in a silent, unheard rictus scream at the plight of the modern world, fighting against the political and corporate injustices that threaten our very futures.

Reckon that would work? Wink

You'd think when someone has a 100 years old painting and some unknown person does up and starts restoring it, someone should have said something. Hi ma'am, I appreciate you concern but that is something a professional should be doing. You do have a point, it can use some restoring. Thank you for bring the matter to our attention. I also really whole heatedly appreciate you trying to restore it at no cost to us. But again, I think it's time we look into hiring a professional restorer and the painting which we all adore, deserved to be resorted properly by paid professional. Maybe after the restoration we will see it as it was seen 100 years ago. Won't that be something? I like you to be present when it is unveiled.

However, when you don't and all is said and done, I don't think you should say things to make an 80 year old woman cry.
