Possible scammer?

I met this girl on one of the popular dating sites a few weeks ago,an well I like to think shes on the up and up but am having doubts now. She is supposedly a communications sargeant in the army stationed in Syria. That could be true. But she has told me she dont have a cam an cant use skype or make phne calls with out her "commanders" approval,she also seems to be at her "commanders beck an call. I have used readnotify an come up with some interesting things,which I asked her about and she since then has started using a alternate email im almost sure.She is wanting to get together when she returns home nxt month an going to retire from military.She also gave me her daughters Im name so could get aquainted with her and have talked with her twice an the 2nd time she asked me for a bike for her b-day,which I told her no.Her Mom hasnt asked for any thing as of yet. I have also used a IM checker to see when shes online an invisible,was invisible more often than not before going to another email addy.So the other day she send me a offline apologizing for not being online because she supposedly got shot in the hand,hmmmnnnn I say. So today a few days later she comes on an has a cam,which she says she has to hide from her "commander" or will get in trouble.I asked her to show me her wounded hand an sh turned off the cam an said she was tired an going to bed. Also says they are going to be sent to Nigeria for 3-4 weeks for some thing or other,which I also dont beleive.But again could be possible. Ive used Spokeo an no info is available on this person an also no yahoo profile. So what should I do? She could be telling partial truths but dont think its completely true either. Is there anyplace where I could possibly get the real deal on this person?

I seriously doubt there is anything at all true about this person. Military scams are among the most common of all. I suggest you post your story at our sister site, www.scamwarners.com. You may find that some of the same text has been posted to others. It sounds very, very suspicious.

Romance scammers are known for taking a long time to build up confidence before really cranking up the sob stories needing money. Tread carefully, the odds of this being a real situation are very small, I'm sorry to say.

"She" is probably a man and saying that she's being sent to Nigeria (where she no doubt is already) is probably so that you won't question the destination when she starts asking you to send money to her there by Western Union.

Do not send any money, no matter what story she comes up with.

Sorry to say so, but this really sounds like a scam. I met a guy on a dating site who said he was stationed in Afghanistan. I stringed him along because i was already suspicious because the camp name and location was totally wrong and so on. But when he eventually asked me to apply for phone service i knew he was a fake.
My brother-in-law used to be in the army and he could phone in his free time without anyone´s permission, he could also skype. U.S. soldiers don´t have to pay for a leave and they normally have their own cell phones with them. So be careful!

I guess have talked with this "girl" for the last time today. Seems her B-Day wa yesterday an she was all distraught about some thing,but wouldnt say what,so she let me go to have a emergency meeting with her "commander" about starting her release papers to come home. So she comes on this morning an I tell her good morning cause surprised me that she was on. Well she tells me that theres a problem,ok whats the problem I ask. She says well you have been tracking me an I bout fell through my monitor,lol. I havent been tracking her,did once at 1st using readnotify and asked her about my findings then an she didnt have any thing to say about it then.But today ohhhh man she went ballistic!! Maybe she was hung over from the fire dancing an drinking all night,lol.Anyway the last thing the mugu said wass if I didnt stop emailing her she would hunt me down. Really all I did was ask her who told her I was tracking her when wasnt but she wouldnt tell me any thingat all.Figure it was just her way of telling me to get lost,but not very politely. So should let it go or send her another email or two just to really get under her skin,lol?

Let it go, set up a new fake account and write as a whole new vic. It's called Rinse, repeat by people brighter than me here on the forum, I've done it to good effect three times on the same scammer Wink

Ok well seems like I got thigs smoothed over for a minute with this mugu,really dont know why,but really has my interest up. So anyway Im putting in the note from the email she replyed to today.I know its not right but just want you all to see this one.
Well am I never knew about your mom, am sorry to hear that, its all written on you that you never want to trust any one and am not forcing you, the solution for me not to be sent to Syria all depend on if you will do what my commander has advised me to act on for me to be out of here, you need money to do a lot of things and you never want to sacrifice bring me home to help you. I know your condition of things there and there is nothing I can do while am here. If you think about what you want then you will help me out getting out of here. You have to request for my leave out of here as my fiancé. That's what you have to do and once its approved then I can be out of here and all your doubt will be clear to you. Mind you if you can't help me out here, then I will have what ever I face as my destiny.

Scammer is still on the hook.

If you put any real details including you photo on the dating site, dump him(her) and recontact with a new email. It's a definite scammer.
She will get robbed in Lagos etc etc please send me money.

They love the old "I have to go to Nigeria" Then it's -

Car accident
lost my ID
Got robbed
Bus was attacked
The Police are bribing me.
An alien abducted me

Asking for money or gifts is an alarm bell ringer. You know the routine, never send money to anyone you haven't met!! I was wooried that I had an innocent one on the hook as it has been going a month. Yesterdy the money request and a sigh of reief from me. I want to hit the scammer but not lead an innocent party on and that is a danger with a long running bait. I guess you have to ask if it is genuine or contrived behaviour. In this instance it is contrived and the more you do, the stronger your sense of smell becomes!! As Juan says, military baits are so common especially with "found" funds.
