I don't know if any has noticed but Morrissey, the former lead singer with The Smiths has announed on Twitter that the atmosphere at the London Olympics is comparable to Nazi Germany just before the outbreak of war in 1939.
In the last few months Morrissey has gone on Twitter and has complained about the Falkland Islanders wanting to remain British (it's called democracy and self determination) and then moaned about the Monarchy during the Jubilee Celebrations.
This latest outburst from him really is the dumbest yet. There is nothing wrong with being proud and patriotic about Great Britain or the medal winning achievements. To compare that to the rabid and insane philosophy of Adolf Hitler and his henchmen is historically ignorant and wrong. Morrissey seems to forget that in 1939 it was Britain that went to war with Germany and for the 1st couple of years there weren't any allies to fight with and Britain faced daily bombing raids and the real threat of invasion.
If he wants to see how the Nazis organised an Olympics, I suggest he watched Leni Riefenstahl's documentary on the 1936 Olympics called Olympiad. He'll see then that there is a massive difference between the Olympics of 2012 and the games in 1936 which were a vehicle for Nazi propaganda and showed what an evil bunch Hitler and co really were. |

Ignore him, he's just trolling. His current album isn't selling very well (because it's not very good, but then he's not been very good since The Smiths broke up) and he's just saying bollocks to get a bit of publicity.
He must have almost exploded when the UK team took the team dressage gold medal  |

Sorry, folks - I enjoy the Smiths, Morrissey as a stand alone depresses me and this thread has politics all over it. |
