With those storms coming though the east last Friday - we still have no power for the 6th day (5 days and 15 hrs) -

So is it lying when I tell the lads I can't get the nearest WU due to down power lines and the WU office (supermarket) really is closed? Laughing

Although my neighbors across the street have power!!!

That would be an excellent excuse. Nothing like real world facts to slow a bait down (Look, I want to send the money, but I can't because the bank/WU or MG office doesn't have power...).

In 2005 lost power for three weeks. One 6000kw and one 15000kw gas guzzler. Problem was gas stations had no electricity either to pump gas..most now learned their lesson and now have backup generators.

Always good to use current weather situations. However, you may need an explanation of being able to use computer -- oh, laptop with battery power -- but it is draining out so don't know when I will next be able to communicate with you Mr. Lad.

Hope you get your power back on soon. I know what it is like having gone Hurricanes Ivan and Katrina.

In case anyone is wondering (which I know they're not) we're having just as crappy a Summer in the UK as you are. We've had rain and flooding and just over a week ago hail stones the size of golf balls.

My fishing characters survived Irene last August, with some damage, and the power was out for apparently four days. I, not being in Maryland, was not affected by the hurricane, though I did feel the earthquake. They were at sea at the time of the earthquake, so they didn't notice much of it.

Three weeks for us after Katrina and now I hate the sound of a generator. Plus where we lived we could only run the generator until 10 pm due to the some ordinance...and we roasted all night until 7 am when we could turn it back on.

I strangely got power back an hour after that post. Though we do have a generator that can provide enough for fridge, a tv a few lights and fans.
