Well, given that this place is named the Eater, it kinda makes sense to me for us to have a cookbook (perhaps a virtual one) filled with recipes from all over of all sorts of different things.

The question is, would anyone be interested in such a thing?

Do the recipes need to have "Laddish" names? (Ex: Lad Crumb Pie, & Pickled Piss-ant)

Al, they certainly can be, but if you'd like to use normal dish names, that'd be just fine, too. Smile

And hello, badger. Been way too long. Smile

I think somewhere in the forum there is one already. I put my world famous black bean/sausage chili recipe on it.

Bart, I went snooping and didn't find one, and I really wasn't for necro-ing a thread. And that recipe sounds good just by the name. Smile

Interested? Hell yes, here's the old threads for some good ideas. I do notice the most popular vegetable is chili.

^ As long as it contains chili, this lot'll love it. Wink

Like the book idea. I don't cook much for myself, but I do like reading different recipes, particularly from other countries.

How about getting lads' favorite recipes?

Hector once sent a recipe for Akara (fried bean donuts) to a baiter playing a kid in Brooklyn. The kid nearly burned down the house trying to make them, then died of an allergic reaction. Hector was nonchalant and blamed the kid.

Thanks piecrust for digging up those threads.

One of my favorites is Pastor Frank's radish recipe. Love the crunch on sandwiches.

I would be willing to contribute, even though canning season is upon me.

And PF, I just got a recipe for a summer squash pie that is really a dessert!

I would have to forge something as my original recipes are already published. I would be exposed if I posted them. I do have some friends with awesome recipes though. One is a peanut butter pie. (Yummy).

I bet that if someone were nice they could get a sticky here in General, something on the order of "What food are you eating, PF is awesome, recipe thread".

But someone would have to kiss some Mod/Admin ass, and I'm not willing to do that.

A petition might work.

Make all the signatures on http://www.mylivesignature.com/login.php

Now if someone were really energetic we could do one of those cookbook fundraisers and make some money to support Eater. Have two sections -- one with baiter's recipes and one with lad's recipes.

Yes.

Get a package of Betty Crocker Peanut Butter Cookie mix. When they come out of the oven immediately put unwrapped Hershey Kisses in the middle of each one

Our auto mechanic gives us a discount when I bring a batch of those along when he does automotive repair for us.

GUINNESS (STOUT) CHOCOLATE CAKE

1 Cup Guinness Stout
10 teaspoons unsalted butter (softened)
6 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa
2 Cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs
6 tablespoons sour cream
1 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 Cups all purpose flour
2-1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Preheat oven to 350 deg F.
Butter a 9 inch springform pan and line with parchment paper

Heat Guinness and butter in a large saucepan over medium-low heat until butter melts. Remove from heat; whisk in cocoa and sugar

Combine sour cream, eggs and vanilla, whisk into cocoa mixture. Whisk in flour and baking soda.

Pour batter into pan.

Bake 40 – 45 mins or until cake is firm. Remove to wire rack. Cool completely.

Remove from pan and spread frosting on top.

FROSTING

Beat 8 oz softened cream cheese until smooth.
Gradually add 1-1/4 cups powdered sugar, beating at low speed just until blended.
Gradually add ½ cup cream. Beat until blended.

Guinness Stout becomes food!
