Hi guys

Just pick the nearest smaller one if you don't find your exact screen resolution in the poll.

This may seem like a personal question, but I'd like to know with regards to the design of the user interface for the autobaiter tool I'm working on - You can check it out here:

My reason for considering this is that I'd like to determine the maximum window size that's still comfortable for you guys.

Chuda,

most of the newer PC's /laptops now come with a wide screen (aspect ratio 16/9 or 16/10), your list only shows 4/3 aspect ratios (except for the last one).
Maybe you should adjust the list a bit.
My laptop resolution is 1366x768 pixies, office screen is 1680x1050.

Hey Chuda, you were around when I joined, all that time ago, glad to see you've still been thinking about lads when you weren't here - just supports my theory about baiting being addictive. Very Happy

Screen resolution:

My screen is 8:5 in pixels (ie. 1440*900)

but in physical dimensions more closley approximates 40:23

Either way you play it, my preferrences would be that I could open the interface in one not fully maximised window, along side a couple of others such as my mail client, web browser, and a few copies of notepad.

So far, going by the screenshots, it's looking good.

May I ask, will it run as a stand alone program or will we need to get a C or other library loaded up in toto. I like the idea of portability, at present I'm running winderz, towards the end of this year I plan to have a linux box (my old Sony Lappy) configured and waiting for exactley this type of thing.

I presume it'll be able to be configured to send "pictures" and "documents" on cue? (real ones, as well as empty files)

Also, the clincher, will I be able to run multiple instances of it, each perhaps targeting different bait types - or better still each running one type of scam bait, varying the styles a little, playing arround with the responses - perhaps even all targeting the same scammer. Once it's set up, it would be then comparativley easy to monitor and tweek the responses manualy where needed, and to steer the bait into a variety of modalities. Wish I were half as decent programmer as some of you guys out there, some day I plan to get up to speed, but not yet.

My reason for for putting up this question is that I usually optimise user interfaces for 800 x 600 for backwards compatibility. But that seem a bit old fashioned today.

So I wondered what would be the maximum window size to use where the user would not have to scroll to get the overview. Otherwise I would to handle related data in multiple windows.

I know the list of choices is somewhat short - That's on purpose as the list would grow too long if I added every thinkable resolution.

So far the optimum seems to be 1024 x 768, which also also happened to be my first guess as well as being indicated by my research.

I've set the poll to run for a week - Let's how much thing changes.

@piecrust You ask about some detail regarding the program itself, I've quoted them in the thread about the program.

I bet some of them are mobile ones - I might consider an Android app if the tool becomes a success.

For now I've decided on 1024 x 768 - That seem to be able to contain what's needed.

But please keep the votes coming - It's running for a week.

``` There are more windows - The largerst are optimised for 1024 x 768. Small windows are dialog style the bigger ones can be resized.

Technical details noted - Awesome! I just tried to figure out the minimum usable resolution.

I'd just like to create an application where there's no need to scroll too much or pop up mutiple windows to do simple tasks.

That's not even close to a problem for you Smile

I have two monitors hooked up to my computer main 1280x800 and my secondary 1280x1024. At home I have 1920x1200. I aggre it's probably safe to set up as a 16:9 ratio unless you have a POS computer like Ghost.

Thanks a lot for the input.

My motivation for this rhread is rhat I want to create an application for everybody to use.

I could just have gone ahead, creating something optimised for my own dual monitor (Each 28" - 1920 x 1200 (beating Shiver by a few pixels)) setup.

But this thread is all about getting something for the masses (lads exluded), and it still looks like 1024 x 768 is where everybody can hang in.

PLEASE consider that configurations for smaller screens WILL WORK on larger screens. The reverse is NOT true...

^^^^ That's not exactly true.

I design large forms so that scrollbars appear when they are downsized - That will make a 1024 x 768 form work on a smaller screen.

Only forms smaller than 640 x 480 will have a fixed size.
