I've never had a problem like this one before. I've been getting the run around from the domain provider and I'm starting to think they're in on this con...?

The site is AVATNET.NET and it is a front for dipping small charges into bank accounts and then putting the charge back. I guess they're fishing for valid cc#'s to sell or possibly rob from later.

Should I not try and shut the site down? The more they do this the more reports will post online thus having the ability to warn people when they see this to cancel credit/bank cards. Some reports have been made already:

The WHOIS data says it is suspended but they are still up and active! How can that be?

I've had much success at getting sites shut down but I think this one is out of my league...?

Should you try to kill it? It depends on you level of conviction that this site is being used for fraud. This can be harder than you think.

Shady businesses on the net are sort of a rainbow, on one end you could have legit business people who are completely incompetent, then it moves to the blatant fraudulent

I have seen a few real net business, that are completely incompetent, and could be mistaken for a fraud.

If the site is set up for fraud, sure kill anything that is a real fraud.

A final step in the killing process could be reporting could be contacting IC3 and cite everything that makes you believe the site is fake. The reason this is a final step is its about a 50 56 shot they will get the site killed and it could take weeks to months to get the site killed. Still this chance is better than nothing.

Also posted on aa419 and I sent a report to the registrar who has changed the whois to suspended but not actually suspended the site.

However credit card charges do not actually need a website so closing the site will not stop charges to a card.

I would link to a massive post by MGD at dslreports.com at this point, but the site is down at the moment. In a nutshell MGD has done a gold medal winning job at documenting a long-running Russia based CC scam using all sorts of intangibles sold on mule run and registered websites.

I just checked, and if you check http://avatnet.net/robots.txt you will find

Used by our russki friends to stop search engine crawlers from finding the site. Why would a legit site do that?
