I have been using "compact" for a while now and I haven't noticed any recent changes.

For my primary account I am using the theme "mustard (or yellow) color, COMPACT and took Juan's tip about having text for the buttons.

Several of my accounts are still the old look, but the axe will most likely fall any hour now.

Ima, hover over the Inbox entry in the list of folders and you should get a dropdown arrow appear. If you click on that you can select the folder type.

If you select "Unread first" it will split the inbox in two - Unread and "Everything else"

Something else I have noticed is those damned ads at the top of Gmail

In my SW Account

This came up when I clicked on "Why this Ad"

ETA Changed it to Basic HTML and the ads have disappeared !

You're not being paranoid, there's bots that read emails and display ads based on words found in the emails.

I get guitar related ads all the time -_-

To remove some of the ads, go to:

Settings
Web Clips
Unclick the box "Show my web clips above the Inbox"

Another moan:

Picasa photo album button has completely disappeared. I went to Google Helpless and you have to bring up the Picasa site and bookmark it separately into Favourites & use it that way. It still works OK but what a runaround.

^^^ Is that different than the one in the LABS section of settings?

I saw something about Picasa in the LABs but did not enable it.
