Was this one of those animal brothels I have read about?

I still need to bust out the new detector I bought. Almost $300 worth of electronics collecting dust. My $25 detector went downhill quick.

I figure it's a badge from something mechanical.

Any sign of possible "pin" attachment on either side.

Being an amateur U-Boat history buff, it bears a resemblance to a ships device that would commonly be used to signify what boat a crew member came from. It could be Churchill getting it from the "Raging Bull of Scapa Flow" (Otto Prien, U47).

It's a stretch. Any former POWs/camps in the region?

Well two local antique dealers looked at it, one wasn't impressed and said it was worth nothing (I don't care about value, just what the hell is it and it's purpose?) The other dealer thought it was hilarious, but didn't know either, figured someone made it while bored.

Nothing on the other side, completely smooth. I thought possible pin or watch fob, but why a beastiality theme??

Maine cults? All they would do is sit around a fire, drinking Bud Light or Allen's Coffee Brandy, then go 4-wheeling in the dark, drunk off their asses!! Laughing

It might be a poor reproduction of a goat.

In that case what you have might be an old piece of lad art lured by some of the earliest American baiters. Quite a rare artifact if so!

As for my other finds:

Lots of modern coins, mostly dimes and pennies, some quarters. Probably about $4.00 worth at this time. I did find two wheat pennies and a silver 1923 Mercury Dime so far.

Lots of scrap, an old snow plow tag, nails, some kind of molten slag, harmonica reeds, and a bunch of unidentifiable scrap metal.
