Hello Baiters!

Received a letter through the post the other day from "Barrister Jose Luis Alonso" with the inheritance scam I see someone have mentioned.

I couldn't resist replying to his letter with an e-mail pretending to be interested but more so very worried and devastated by the loss of our unknown rich relative. I have asked for lots of information as to how she died, can I see death certificate, who is looking after her pets etc.

I do wish I had found this site before doing this though...I was so stupid and used my normal G-mail account which shows my real name.... I didn't know anything about the fine art of scam baiting you people master! Just hope he won't came after me now...

Will now ignore any further mails from him and get myself well prepared for some proper scam baiting. Am reading all the hints and advice and just want to say thank you for a fantastic initiative! Smile

. You've dropped him like a rock, and I doubt he'll think twice about it. For him, you're probably just another person who didn't fall for his crap. As far as I understood, you haven't really done anything to annoy him. You're not stupid, and you were smart to drop him.

If you set up an account that can't be traced back to yourself, you can still bait him.

Other than that, read the stickies and some ongoing and concluded baits, there's a lot of good stuff to see there Smile

First of all, you are not stupid. Many people have done the same thing.

You are correct to ignore any further emails from the lad. Other people who eventually became baiters have also responded from their regular email account -- until they found the light at Eater.

The best advice for you is to:

Read all the stickies, announcements and guidelines as well as Eater U.

Apply for a mentor. They are mentee openings now and since you have made one post you are eligible to sign up for a mentor.

Once you get your baiting legs under you, I am sure you will diagnose the problem and "nurse" the lads along to a fine radical dolla chop! Laughing

No harm done. You can just make up a new gmail addy with a fake name and start baiting him again. Or you can go to the Surplus forum and pick out a new, fresh lad! Very Happy

FlorenceN welcome to eater. Don’t worry about it. Just expect to receive more different scam emails.

They love it when they get a live email. They always seem to believe that they are smart enough to scam anyone.

anyway read through the stickies read a few past baits and go to the surplus section and pick your own format.

OMG! Not Jose' "the hitlad" Luis Alonso? Do you have a place to hide? Is it stocked with food and water for months? You're probably OK but you should not have even posted this. Google won't release any of your private details but you just stated stuff that might be seen by the browsing scammer himself since you called him out by name. Rolling Eyes

No need to get paranoid Tom Terrific, even if the scammer did google his name and found this site, what would be the harm? The original poster didn't post his full address and bank details in this post as far as I see, so what would the scammer have achieved? Even more, rumors have it that they can't even understand what baiting is and why we would do it... Shocked

FlorenceN, you are perfectly safe, just don't mail him again from your private address! Wink

Don't see anything stupid about what you did. Like the others have said, you just made a common mistake for beginners. Read up; on all the stickies and Eater U then find a nice lad from Surplus to start gnawing on. I forsee you driving the lads absolutely demented in no time and should be getting lots of ranting and raving in your various accounts soon.
