I gave my second K7 number to a lad this morning. I got to wondering what outgoing message I had on that phone. When I called the number it had a totally foreign outgoing message on it.

Don't know if it has spoiled the bait yet but I wish they had E-mailed some sort of notification saying if the number didn't get used by ??/??/???? it would be closed and reassigned.

In damage control mode: LOL.

When you sign up for a K7 and READ the FAQ it has a paragraph about a number being inactive.

K7 desires to provide numbers to customers that will use our service. If a K7 number is inactive for 30 days (use is determined as a voice message or fax message to that number), we will terminate the account for non-use. If a new account does not receive a voice or fax message within 72 hours of activation it will be terminated for non-use. If your account ever does become terminated, you can register online for a new account.

A good idea is to put it on your calendar to call your number every 10 -14 days to make sure it doesn't go inactive. Wink

Still, I wish they could send an E-mail notice so I can call the number and not get it re-assigned.

I sent a damage control e-mail to the lad. We'll see if it worked.

Oh well, more fish in the sea......

There's a very high probability that the lad has not called your number. Remember that the mugu is always wrong but in this case he may have left a message on a ITP's line. You should send a message telling him that he needs to call you directly, you have been waiting and offer up your private cell phone number. That would be your new K7 number.

Thanks Connie. I sent a message saying my phone was turned off because I forgot to pay the bill due to stress. I'll give lad another number tomorrow after I get out of work.

Think I should call the old K7 and tell them they might get calls from Scammers? (just asking)

When I first got my K7 number I got calls that were meant for the previous owner of that number. Her calls were coming from debt collectors.

Hmmm, maybe I should call the new owner and try to collect debts to put them on guard.

Would be a good way to not "flame".

I suggest (in the future) telling the lad that you had a typo in the number, one digit off, and send him a new one with the correct digit. And by correct digit I mean A) a completely different number, or B) with one different digit that, surprise surprise, doesn't work at all. That should buy you some time, hopefully.

Of course, it's a bit late now. It's stuff like that though that makes me never give the lad a phone number. It's amazing how many accidents and illnesses I've had that rendered me deaf, and more amazing that it's never REALLY been questioned more than once (And I've even told these lads that I called my business partner XD)

I don't think it's a good idea to call the new owner, though. If the lad hasn't called the number, best not to let the ITP in. If the lad did call, the ITP might just brush it off as a wrong number, or they might not even check their K7. That's just me, though, I'd rather get the lad off that number as quickly as possible and avoid ITP contact, but I'm not anywhere near as experienced as our mods, so take their advice over mine Razz

^^ I agree. I would not call the number and warn the person who would be an ITP. Like the rest of us who get wrong numbers, you just ignore it and move on.
