searching of the ship has resumed after it moved a bit, causing some concerns about the safety of having divers in the boat, still 16 people missing I understand.
Sadly the most certain way to get to know the names of the victims is to wait for the scam emails to come through. |

The word has been in my mind for the last few days but now the company is now saying the captain was showboating.
I've been told by many people in the past to not use Carnival Lines. From Morgain Le Fay's posting of the Carnival response to the passenger's present needs I now know why. I've used Affordable Tours many times, have been pleased with their customer service and am glad to know that their CEO would ensure that their customers get home. |

But not as badly of some of those WW2 battleships with all those huge and VERY heavy guns.
I was on a cruise ship that had to make a sudden manouever to avoid some idiot cutting across the ships path .... not fun! The inertia threw most of the swimming pool's water out across the people enjoying breakfast on the main deck at the time. |

On last evening's news, they reported about the Maritime Professional Training Institute located in Florida where they train captains and other navigation deck officers to use the highly technical equipment which is uniform for all passenger and freight ships globally. There are many types of equipment available wherein a captain or officer of the deck can use to guide the ship. It is like a giant simulator where they can change weather conditions, etc. to make it real.
The depth finding equipment would be set to give out an alarm when the water below the keel would decrease and alarm the bridge personnel. When that alarm goes off, there are specific guidelines which the bridge personnel must adhere to.
With all international passenger liners having this equipment, it is amazing that the captain of the ship which recently went down did not respond appropriately.

If you all will get your BAITING brains into gear, doesn't this accident look too good to be true, but there it is.
Could the captain be acting under orders from the owners?
Are the owners in debt and did not have the money to have the cruise finish?
Is there other factors to consider, like protection money not paid, for instance?
Need to keep an open mind on this accident.
Just my incident managers (rtd) thoughts. |

Although this is a large ship and a lot of money, these are not significant funds for a company the size of Carnival (not enough to risk the business they will lose on all their other ships with the hit the industry now is going to take).
The Captain now claims he FELL into the lifeboat....

Hmmm. "Fell into the lifeboat" - as in trip, stumble and fall from drinking perhaps. Perhaps he should have been given a breathalyzer test? Perhaps some guests may have observed him "drinking". |
