Up here in Minnesota, I woke up to 46 degrees F. mr bo pointed out, that's a 70 degree difference from the temperature one year ago.

70 degrees F here today, was so foggy this morning, I could not find the clothesline in the backyard so I went shopping instead of laundry!

Snow in the mitten but it's melting fast. High around 50* yesterday. More cold & snow on the way I'm told.

We had a couple of inches a few days ago, and it was cold, but this has been a very mild winter here in Syracuse.

It's going to be above average (temp-wise), with little (if any) snow for the next 10 days.

This is Syracuse's average monthly snow fall:

As of today we've had less than 6 inches of snow for the entire winter season.

Same here in Montana. We have normally had a lot of below 0 weather by now and are in the 40's most days. Over Christmas I went to Yellowstone park, usually several feet of snow and there was about 3 inches.

it's very interesting in austria.

the western part of the country is buried under snow. 2m and more, the roads and railways to villages and cities in the mountains (lech am arlberg, very well known, even Lady Di was skiing there) were disconnected.

in the eastern part, there is no snow at all. nothing.

and I have a nice pair of kneissl whitestar mx4 carver ski, 192cm of pure power Twisted Evil

. used only twice this winter. maybe, there are more opportunities to go skiing, but... who knows.

Yeah, we can get 2" any day from lake effect and it won't be predicted. Especially right now because the lake isn't frozen anywhere near shore. Of course, the closer to the lake you get the higher chance of higher numbers.

againt, they've closed the roads to some villages (for example lech am arlberg), and while it's really nothing here in vienna (a little bit rain), last night, it was again one metre of snow for western austria.

I enjoyed my visits to Deutschland back in the 1980's. The people were so nice even though I didn't know the language. My BIL said even if you murder the language trying, the people will be happy that you tried. He later said I knew more German than some of his guys that had been living on base for over a year. I realized how snooty us Americans can be sometimes.

BTW, you don't know the old German do you?? I have some old books that some of my German-speaking friends can't tell me anything about.

Ohio is 40s and 50s the next few days, but next week we may have some nights in the 20s. Less than 2 inches of snow this season and because we got over 5 inches of rain during December most of the lawns are still green.

We are approaching mid-January and my cats are still willing to dash out the front door when I open it to get the morning paper.

I just checked my outside surveillance/security cam on the tv and thought it was snowing. I could not believe it because it is 67 degrees F outside. So I opened the door to check. Incoming fog appears as snowflakes on the surveillance/security.
