Police said Barasat-based student Nayan Mahajan received an email informing him that he had won a lottery. In subsequent correspondence, Nayan was assured of Rs 3 crore as prize money. For six months, Nayan kept in touch with the fraudsters through emails and phone calls. He was asked to pay Rs 60 lakh as 'processing fees'. Nayan's father Naren, a businessman, lives in Oman. To collect the entire amount, Nayan even sold some of his mother's jewellery. |

Earlier in December, two Nigerians were held in Delhi:

Police investigations led to the arrest of the accused, identified as Akhere Japhet Akinhonmi and Henry Igbhebo, both aged 29, from Bhai Paramanand Colony. During interrogations the duo admitted they had conned people to the tune of Rs 75 lakh by using the fake email ID of an international beer brand and also revealed their modus operandi to the cops. |

Just so you know - 60 lakhs of rupees is 6 million rupees, or just over $113,000; 14 lakhs is 1.4 million rupees, or just over $26,000.
3 crore is 300 lakhs, or more than half a million dollars. |

There are more news here of Nigerian lotto and NoK lads who have been arrested. They had been in India on business visas.
