Hello Scambaiters,
I'm Big Al. I don't know if it's customary here to tell a little about myself here or not but I thought I would give a few basics. I post on other forums and using the signup's sugestion used Big Al instead of who I normally use on any of the others. I've been reading and enjoying some of the stories here for about a week now. I've never done a scambait and don't know if I ever will. The closest I've come to it was to start saving a bunch of the scam letters and then reply to the next one with something along the lines of "I'm sorry, I can't help you as I'm too busy helping all of your friends." Then I would attach all of the previous scam letters hoping to fill their mailbox full of their own junk. Keep up the good work people!

The last guy to use that handle here on Eater was a urine soaked cretin, so it's nice to know that there are some Big Al's out there who are good guys. Wink

Geez, maybe I should do a name change already. I'm surprized the admins didn't lock out the name to avoid misidentification.

Anyway, I'm the good Big Al and hope to make some new friends.

I live in Michigan (USA). I'm just an average factory rat for the most part. I have a job title but it's little more than a glorified machinist (Prototype Technician).

I want to read some of the do's and dont's before trying any serious scambait. I think that is a wise decision myself. The last thing I need is to get in over my head right off the bat.

(That'll be two cents please. LOL)

No need. Unless you run around the forum drooling and blubbering, we'll know you're the right one. Wink

Reading is a great way to start. We also have a mentor program which you can sign up for. That involves an experienced baiter showing you the ropes and giving you as much advice as you want or need.

Welcome! The mentoring system is a great way to get started. Or just ask if it's not in the stickies. Forum searches are also good as there's damn near a decade of increasingly successful baiting in the archive. Anyway, grab a fresh email address, pull up a greedy lad and prepare to walk the razor's edge between insanity and more insanity. How are your people skills ?

Thanks for the warm & fuzzy welcome folks. I'm neither balding nor a racist. Maybe the squirrel likes me because I quit hunting them back in the 80's and switched to deer. (More meat on them anyway) Now I feed the Squirrels & Birds in winter instead. Besides, you can't shoot within the city limits without going to jail.

Been reading up on baiting do's and don'ts. I gotta believe somewhere in the archives there's a step-by-step for newbies. Maybe after the first contact it's too much of a free form thing when reversing the tables to do one though. (Just thinking out loud)

I recommend starting there, then working your way through the wealth of knowledge in the Eater University forum. Valuable help in there, particularly for running 'straight baits' which are the best type to start with to learn the basics.
