I changed back to the "old" look, filled out the reasons why I don't like the new look, I ran out of space and resorted to a long email instead.

Still using the "old" version but that is doomed soon. Confused

On a separate note, updated FireFox, and now have a totally messed up toolbar and icons that I'm still trying to find and get used to.

Anyone know where the *new tab* icon could be? Confused

I fear the old version is doomed. I have 26 Gmail accounts and when they asked me my opinion I had 26 chances to tell them why I hate it. The new version is not compatible with senior citizen eyes and I told them I would go back to Yahoo for readability; however, I doubt the Gmail people really care. They will just do what they want to do.

It is like the grocery stores. Every couple years they re-set the store merchandise just for the hell of it IMHO. But it is a ploy to keep you in the store longer.

I don't know what Gmail will gain from this "new" version except making people unhappy.

Yeah the new gmail blows. It took me forever to find the new reply button. Pffffft. I considered switching back to the old look but it's useless since it will be gone soon, anyway.

I have bombarded them with feedback from all my baiting accounts, as well as RL ones. I loathe the "new" look. But they are just biding their time. Right now it's possible to switch back but already they're starting to force it. It's not as easy to find the button to restore the old version. I just hope they get enough screamingly negative feedback that someone there starts thinking "oops, Netflix" and regains their senses.

It is the "+" symbol on the far right of the task bar, under the house icon.

Yeah, we elderly don't like modernisations like that. I'll repeat what my old mother is used to say: "they only think about the younger generation".

BTW, i do like the latest version of FF

Seems like I am the only one who loves the new GMail? Meh...
It's great, I like it. The only thing that needs a bit getting used to is that now when you "Compose email" the "Send" button is all the way at the top and not below the message like it used to be.

File>new tab

If you don't see "file" in the left upper corner then you should see an orange box that reads firefox ▼. Click that and new tab appears first in the drop down list.

Even simpler, see that plus sign next to the tab you have opened? Click that.

Click the orange box then go to options and check the menu bar. That might make it more like it was before.

Hum... "bookmarks" is below the little house icon for me. I'm using FF 8.0.

I don't have a problem with the new version of GMail, but maybe that's because I am already used to it. I changed to the new look when it first rolled out.

Only gripe I have is that when hitting "send" for my emails, I'm occasionally hitting "save" instead.

They should understand not everyone has the latest and greatest in electronics and let us have a choice.

My mum (and a former MIL) always said that on modern appliances the more bells and whistles, the more things that can go wrong.

I am going to take one of my Gmail accounts and set up with their new fangangled Gmail version and see how I can set it up so I can read it without it glaringly staring me down with "Try me, you will like me" 'cause I really don't think that will happen.

On the FireFox thing I only have a + sign at the end of the current tab I am using. I have no little house icon. It looks like I have the latest version. Is that FireFox 8.0? It says that I am currently "one the latest update channel"

I did switch to the New Google in one account, for about 5 minutes. I do not like it at all. It's like a Chinese Fire Drill with all of the colors and trying to figure it out. It makes my eyes bleed! (Yes I am exaggerating that just a bit!)

I use FF and I have the + at the right of my current tab which opens a new tab. I still have the house that leads back to my home page on the far right of my toolbar.

I haven't changed over to the new look, I belong to the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' school.

What will I see if I did?

I did notice that all my emails are now in tiny writing unless I change the font size, there must be a default setting somewhere, but I can't be arsed to look for it.

You mean the font size in the emails (Gmail) you are writing?

Go to Settings inside Gmail----> Default text style and change.

The only other thing to do for the overall is CTRL +

Those two things are the extent of my font knowledge for Gmail and my computer screen.

I went to one of my least used Gmail accounts and fooled around with settings, and themes. I still don't like it, but I guess I will be ready when the end of the Gmail world as we know it ends.

Just echoing the sentiments of most of you. The new Gmail doesn't impress. I have sent in numerous complaints from my accounts. Hopefully they get bombarded by complaints and go back....

It's punishment for nobody liking that Buzz thing or whatever it was called.

If they get enough complaints about the new look they'll make it all red and green to teach us all a lesson. You wait and see.

The new gmail sucks.

Any crap they give us about needing to tweak it to fit mobile and touch screen devices is just that - crap. My favorite news sites are all capable of automatically detecting which device I happen to be using and flip into mobile mode as required.

Me thinks Google are on the way to becoming the new Micro$oft.

Google is trying to be Facebook/Twitter and it drives me f'n crazy. I guess some people like all the extra crap but I like my email nice and simple. Yahoo's new look sucks even more!

That's why I stick with using my iPhone the gmail/yahoo email boxes are just email boxes.
