As a result of following the thread posted by 'Borderline', I was going to post within that thread. I decided this subject really does deserve its own thread.

We had an instance where a new member qestioned the integrity of some Eater rules. I now see that member has been suspended. I am not particularly interested why. It has however raised the issue of why we have rules.

Firstly rules are not composed without good reason. Secondly rules are put in place as administraters see the necessity for a new or modified rule.
It is done with informed decisions.

A new member is assumed to be poorly informed. It certainly is not their place to question the rules in place. It is rude and insulting to those in power.

Any club or community eventually devises a standard of behaviour and terms of use. It is with the intent for harmonious entertainment and smooth running.

Although I can appreciate the sentiments which you're expressing, there's really no need for a thread about this.

You see, it's common sense that should be imprinted on anyone using the internet. Quite simply, if you visit any website, you have to abide by their rules or accept the consequences. It's no different from any real life situation - if you go into somebody's house or away from your home turf, you abide by your host's rules.
Really, if it needs explaining to someone, they shouldn't be on the internet in the first place.

It's nothing that needs discussing, it's just the way that the world works in general.
