I'm interested, tell me more.
Unfortunately such festivities have mostly gone by the wayside now that eater mods have banned users from drinking alcohol. Some of us can still be found drinking bathtub gin in nondescript rooms with easy exits, though.

I only tell certain people about baiting (a lot of people respond this way: Rolling Eyes ) - but I do talk about scam awareness much more widely, mainly to get across the message that not all scams are obvious and/or prey on greed.

I've told friends and family about baiting, but more widely about the scams themselves also. Most people I've spoken to seem to have a skewed, almost stereotypical view of what constitutes a 419 scam. Others are at least vaguely familiar with such scams, though not by the name '419' or 'advance fee fraud'.

Coincidentally, as part of my course at university, we have a guest speaker coming in tomorrow afternoon - an Economics Officer from the local police force who's doing a lecture on fraud. Among the topics is advance fee fraud, so it'll be interesting to see what he has to say about it. The lecture is not compulsory, but of course I'll be attending, regardless.
Wonder if I should mention to him at the end that I take part in helping potential victims. What do you guys think?

I could maybe drop a subtle hint or something, then. Say I play a role within two online communities in helping to prevent people from being scammed.

Nope. Never met any fellow baiters. I'm not opposed to the idea but I would have a tough time selling it to my wife. She has done some work with kids regarding internet safety so she is suspicious of anyone online that she doesn't know from RL. She doesn't "get" baiting so I don't talk about it her or with friends and family.
