I really enjoy those bad websites with awful design, lots of underconstruction signs, awful gifs, background music etc

today I found this

At first glance it looks OK, but once you start reading the lack of punctuation, capitalisation etc starts to become a joke.

I can't share my favorite fakies 'cause they're all dead. Very Happy

One of my recent favorites was a fake travel site. Many lads will 'fly' a commercial passenger plane across the screen -- this bright lad used a clip of a fighter jet armed with sidewinder missiles. Laughing

I haven't encountered that, fortunately, but I did recently go to a site I saw in a print ad, offering a good deal on a piece of appealing inexpensive jewelry. I filled out the form to place an order and it was only when I hit the credit card page that I saw they charge $25 shipping -- on something that would go in a Priority Mail box for $5, or First Class for $3. I realized that's how they could discount the item, they make the profit on shipping. I closed out of the site and figured that since I hadn't completed the transaction my information would not have been submitted. Wrong. Now I get 3-4 spam mails a day from them, and a print catalog in the mail every couple of weeks. I had to create a Gmail filter to dump their crap to trash without having it clutter my inbox. I would never buy from them now. Really stupid marketing on their part, IMHO.

^ this is a common trick on Ebay, it also means that if they ship you something and it turns out to be a hunk of shit when you finally get it, you only get the discounted price back and not the "shipping" charges. Common with foreign sellers who insist that you post the thing back to them before they will refund, making a return uneconomical. Villains, all of 'em.

@Juan: charging customers to browse your catalog is like a store where you need to pay just to get in, I don't think I've ever seen a worse marketing decision
