John Browning was a remarkable engineer.He was working early enough that some of his rifle designs were used in the old west.One of his later designs is still in use today as the M2 heavy machine gun. |

When I was doing my time in the Force in 89-90, we were given Garand M1 rifles in boot camps. To those that don't know what an M1 is, it was introduced to the US Army in 1936 as a replacement for the Springfield M1903, and replaced in 1957. But not in Denmark...
Luckily, we have more modern weapons today... the M16, for instance...  |

I always remember, back in the early 70's antiwar times, some politicians proposed deleting the armed forces budget. Instead they proposed buying an answering machine and recording "We surrender" in Russian.
But Denmark must be doing something right as it is perenially voted the best place to live in the world - even better than Canada.  |

^^^Interesting point.If the guns were that well preserved,it stands to reason the engine may have been too.On the other hand from what I understand,if the propeller is turning when the aircraft crashes it severely damages the engine from the inertia of the all the moving parts coming to a sudden stop. |

The NATO serial code for most if not all in-use Browning types registers them as Belgian. as it happens. |
