Just a bit of a rant:
I am a member of a different forum that is about antique tube (valve) radios. I've been in the hobby for a while, and on this forum are a lot of great people. One of them, he called himself Oldradiospook, had this completly whacked sense of humor, along with being helpful. Though I had never met him, we joked around a lot and chatted quite a bit. And others on the board felt the same way. We just found out a couple of days ago that he had suddenly passed away on Nov. 1st. Though I only knew him through the board and a few chats, I felt like we had known each other for a long time. Now he's gone. And with my mother-in-law passing away recently (who loved and understood my demented sense of humor) I feel like, "Gee, what's next?" |

That really sucks, Bart. I'm sorry. I'm on several collector forums and I know what you mean. All of a sudden some popular, brilliant expert disappears. It's not fair. The worst thing is that these great people get no praise until they're gone and can't appreciate it. I was just reading a collector journal tonight and saw two 'in memoriam' articles. I realized that someday they'll unquestionably devote a page or 2 to me, but I won't be around to know.
We need to remember to praise people who deserve it while they're still around. |

yeah that sucks big time, I'm sorry to hear that, but with the years going on, you can't avoid it.
People will die and the best ones first as it seems.

Well this particular member thankfully well known and liked on the forum, not just for his demented sense of humor, but knowledge of old radios too and his help and contributions.
What makes it harder for me is not only dealing with my mother-in-law's death, but also how suddenly he died.
I know life goes on, just had to vent. |
