First time scambating. Am I doing this right?

Hello everyone. Been lurking for a couple of days and now a first time poster. I just finally got my first scam. Unfortunately it was in my personal email and not my baiting email. Either way, what I did was replied back to him in my scambaiting email. Just in hopes of throwing him off. Here's the email he sent me...

Email addresses where randomly selected by a ballot system picked from a large mass of email addresses from Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Hi5, Match and other well known social networks and email providers.

However, no tickets were sold but all email addresses were assigned to different ticket numbers for representation and privacy.

So of course I replied back to him, but using my scambaiting email...

It's better to keep your first reply very short as they rarely ever read them. Their only concern is that someone replied and they will automatically send the next letter in their script.

Just keep replying in short sentences they will run out of their script (usually 2-4 pages), then you can start having fun.

Reply to the lad as if you are actually interested and have no idea that it is a scam. Ask lots of question and do not let the lad proceed to the next step until he has answered your questions to your satisfaction. Smile

The way I handled a lottery scam (you can see it in the published forum) is like this: The lad offered a choice of flying to London or sending a delivery fee by WU. He wants me to send the fee and tried everything to dissuade me from flying, but I insisted, then some problems popped up at the airport.

There's no need, on your initial reply, to tell the lad that you're using a different email address.

To stall for more time, play out both option angles. Tell him that you'll let his lawyer handle the fee for you. Play that out as long as you possibly can until it runs out of steam.

After it runs out of steam and sending the money just isn't working out, THEN tell him that you will fly over there to pick up the money. Play that out as long as possible with all the quirks and twists.

@vonpaso xlura Yeah, I didn't realize about the email until later. I guess lads don't care who they scam.

@GoRideEmCowboy Should I have him meet me somewhere that he can barely make it to? You know... get him stranded?

A good response though I would agree that keep your first email short. Also it might be helpful if you act a “bit dense”, but you think you’re really smart.

Points I would bring up:

Sorry I can’t win because you drink another brand of soft drink

“250,000 pounds” pounds of what? Pepsi?

This “BOL/9023118308/03” is not my bank account number and where did you try to get my bank account number.

The first 5 or 10 emails, it really doesn't matter what you say because the lad will never read it. You can tell the lad that you're the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler living in a grotto filled with replicas of the Hope Diamond and they won't ever see it.

My advice: string the lad along with minimal replies until about email 10 or 15. When he starts pestering you to call him, make a very brief call on Skype or some other non-traceable phone service. When he hears your voice you've hooked him. Then he'll start getting off script. Set up your main character, your plot and have a clear idea of where you want the bait to go. After that he'll be eating out of your hand and he will accept any lie from you, however outrageous, so long as you pretend like you want to get the transaction done as soon as possible.

If at any time you feel you are losing him. Do not worry there are plenty of lads in the mire.
If you do not want to lose him then use the magic wand. Wave money.
The money wand will have him jumping through hoops.

It can take a little while, and lotto lads are notoriously lazy.

^ the truth is up there: the first few emails will be ignored, wait until he has wheeled out his barristers and fund managers and so on then start working on him.

Also, very wealthy people didn't get there by being easy to scam .. your perfect victim has a few thousand in the bank and is easily led. Don't set your stall out straight away, simply reply without giving too much away, and see what sort of character your lad seems to think you are. then just play along.

One guideline not TMI (too much information) in the first few responses or replies to that lad. Unless it is a very different bait which might require something different,

Don't give them TMI at first
and
One response one question per day from you to the lad. Some of my lad's don't hear a response from me for a day or two and they are still around receiving one sentence each time from me. If their script changes I might give them 2 or 3 sentences.

And my own personal baiting philosophy is not using WU or MG, but go straight for the bank accounts -- because I like using my persona as international wire transfer specialist at a "private" bank.

Good show. I always try to get bank details before doing WU and MG. Not only can you kill a bank by sending it to Alan, but after you bollox up a wire transfer, WU or MG will seem like a "last resort." You can also waste a lot of time trying to set up a bank wire transfer, especially by using wiring deadlines. In real life banks have to wire funds in or out before a certain time of day. Your bank's wire transfer deadline was 11:00 AM today. Oops, you're emailing him at 11:02 on a Friday...looks like the deal is delayed til Monday! Laughing

@Canadon Alfa Most US banks have a 4 pm cutoff time, then it is good to keep track of all bank holidays in different countries. I use this link (below) to track various holidays and use it to my benefit. Of course I have a wire transfer form they must complete and attach their photo ID to it as per (US) Red Flags Rule (a RL law). I cite the RFR on my wire transfer form for authenticity.

Then the bank, of course, destroys the wire transfer slip so it cannot be used again and it gets shredded -- Ops, forgot to give the lad a copy, well will dig it out of the shredder and take a pic of the pieces so maybe he can tape/cello back together. Or if it did not get shredded coffee or tea was spilled on it -- I can do that and then scan -- it will be quite useless because I like strong Navy coffee. Wink

No worries. He will send the 2nd part of his script no matter what you write in your opening email. Even a small boy (low level scammer) knows he has to reply if he wants a chance at the money. Laughing

My guess is that the lads don't get a very high percentage of replies to their emails (this is completely speculation on my part). Thus the reason for sending out thousands upon thousands of emails. If only 1% of the addys reply, they would have to send out 10k emails to get 100 replies. Of the 100 replies they may only have 1 or 2 good prospects. If they don't follow up on every reply, they greatly reduce their chance of a payday.

4PM wire cutoff? BAH! My banks are lazy and stop sending transfers at 11AM. That's so the bankers can go off and have their 6-martini lunches and know they won't have to work for the rest of the afternoon. Wink

Seriously, I've used wire cutoff times to whipsaw lads something fierce, especially if you can get more than one "bank" involved in your bait (i.e., your character wants the money to come from two separate banks so as to avoid filling out a Currency Transaction Report). Tell the lad one bank has an 11AM wire deadline and the other 2PM, and they're in different time zones. You give the order for the transfer at noon on a Friday. Ooops! We missed the second bank's deadline...looks like we'll have to wait until Monday.

Oh, wait, I forgot, Monday is a Jewish holiday and the bank is closed. Tuesday, then! Laughing

There's no Jewish holiday tomorrow (today is Sunday here). Yom Kippur (10th day of the 7th month of the Hebrew calendar) is today on the observational calendar (observed by a small minority), yesterday on the precalculated calendar. The next Jewish holiday is the start of Sukkot, which is the 15th of the 7th month.

Banks in the USA are closed tomorrow for Columbus Day (aka Día de la Raza), which is actually October 12, but is celebrated on Monday here.

Jewish holiday? Er, I meant Ramadan...or no, actually the bank is closed because the Federal Reserve is auditing their account...or, the bank is closed because the Fed chairman from 1952 died yesterday and we must honor him...or the bank is closed because a water main busted in the street outside...or, it was robbed and the police are investigating...anyway, the bank is always closed.
