Who remembers the annual Guyman conferences? The posters were brilliant! 
I seem to remember Charley Soludo was guest speaker one year. He gave a talk on the importance of Caps Lock to get your message across.
Can't remember who did it though. It was about the same time I joined Eater. Can't anything from a forum Search on it.  |

When I first started reading the website, I wasn't sure if it was a gag or not until I got to the luxury hotel and meals part.
Some years ago, I saw a report on I believe NBC Nightly News, although it might have been CNN, with a hidden camera inside a seminar in Nigeria teaching internet scamming. Definitely not in a luxury hotel or conference center, but a large meeting room none the less. In some ways it looked like the get rich quick in real estate seminars that were widespread in the US. There was only a minute and a half devoted to the story, so not a lot of details. I've never seen such a report since.
I have to wonder if these seminars in West Africa are still popular. In my normal, routine e-mail account, I may go for a month or so with no or very few 419 e-mails, then all of a sudden two or three a day for a few weeks, then back to nothing. I do post them in surplus BTW. I know it's possible I signed up for something that triggered these e-mails, but I'm pretty careful where I post my main e-mail address.
It just has me wondering, if like the real estate seminars, if every so often there's a 419 seminar graduating a bunch of eager entrepreneurs that most soon get discouraged and give up. |

One can only hope they give up. That would be the best thing. That is where we come in. Drag them through the mud of a slime pit until they figure it does not pay. Repeat until they figure it out. |

I remember during the Heavy Electricity baits several months back a bunch of us talked about holding a conference at one of the Simba Safari Camps and sending a bunch of lads there. Unfortunately, nothing ever came of it. A mass-safari would be a beautiful thing but tough to pull off.
