I used to be a fairly successful baiter (see siggy). But, for various reasons I don't care to rehash here now, I haven't been 'in the game' for quite some time. A quick question as I jump back in...

When I was last baiting, Yahoo seemed to be the email addy to use. It's what most of the scammers were using, and while Gmail protects IP addresses that isn't something I'm concerned about and many scammers were onto the "Gmail Jokers" as they called us. Is this still the case?

Gmail is not a problem. Scammers readily respond. The trick is to eventually move them off it to a traceable email service.....lots of ways to do that.

About gmail being a litmus test, yeah a few maybe doing this. They have others test too. But I am positive you get things sorted and be back at racking up mugus really soon.

Bearkat, I have also recently returned to baiting from a 3 year absence. In fact I had exactly the same question you did.

Getting back into it, I'm finding no problem whatsoever from using Gmail to bait lads. They don't seem to attach any significance to it at all anymore. Many of them use it too. However, I only bait lads who themselves use IP-traceable email addresses. I'm always hoping for a safari and I want to be sure to get my proof. Smile

Anyway, welcome back. Perhaps we could compare notes occasionally on what's different and what's the same after a long absence. PM me if interested.

Welcome back! I have baiting accounts at Xmail (desuet), Hushmail, Fastmail, and Safe-mail, and a Rambler account that I use for reporting fake sites and piggies. I like Safe-mail the best of those, and now have two accounts there.

welcome back bearkat - great to see you here. Concept of gmail jokers is pretty much history as others have mentioned, although lads still love to talk to yahoo victims.

One thing that seems to have changed a bit in the past couple of years is that the totally generic "I'm interested, tell me more" doesn't have as great a hit rate as it once did. It still works with some lads but others seem to give that kind of response slightly less priority. At least this is my own experience.....

I haven't checked whether Safe-mail strips. I use Tor, so it doesn't matter. I abandoned Xmail not because it doesn't strip, but because Hotmail or Live refused to accept mail from Xmail because of an rfc-ignorant listing or something.
