Here's an ethical dilemma. I support Eater's rules which are there for good reason, especially the one which forbids involvement of innocent third parties (ITP). But what's the situation when the ITP benefits from being involved?
Such a situation would arise if the baiter quotes a telephone sex line number to a scammer. The sex lines make money from their premium rates, the baiter knows that the lad's phone credit is being burned at great speed, and the lad gets an unexpected thrill 
What's the forum view on this? |

I was thinking along this same line yesterday, but not with the sex numbers. The popular 1-800-EAT-SHIT was the one i was thinking of. I dialed it and got a recording for a service of the sexual type! Back to the drawing board! |

"Innocent" third party is an experienced telephone operator with no chance of damage or danger while still making money doing it.
I would say there is no harm done there, they might even play along and get some extra cash out of it.
Of course members with a sex-line can't use their own number as that could be seen as cash baiting  |

There is no ethical dilemma here. The situation is exactly the same whether the ITP benefits or not. We do not involve ITPs. Period.
If a baiter sends a telephone sex line to a scammer, then said baiter has violated the ITP rule by intentionally involving the third party.
The "forum view" of involving ITPs is irrelevant, as is parsing terms and analyzing the definition of "innocent". |
