Lad says it cost him $50 to FAX to my Flextel account

I've got a scam bait going, where my lad believes he is selling equipment to a radio club. The club insists on a FAX with details about the equipment. This FAX must go to a number I set up which is a 070 Flextel number. The number has been configured to accept FAXes.

My lad claims that him sending me 9 pages cost him about $50. I pointed out some pages had errors as he had failed to deduct an agreed percentage for late receipt of the FAX.

For more than two months he has said he will FAX the form, but finally it arrived yesterday. Of course, he needs to resend the pages which have errors - errors caused by his own stupidity. This is what I got.

I think you should mind the way you talk sometimes okay, you don't
tell me i am "STUPID" because of some shit and i deserve an apology
for that. I have agreed with the 5% discount but i don't understand
this issue about the fax i have sent the pages which i am suppose to
fill and they are all in there what we should be talking about now is
when payment will be made and when i can ship the goods, i am done
with the fax issue and if you must know it cost me about $50 to fax
the forms yesterday. So if you and the club are interested in buying
the goods you have requested from me let discuss business not some
"FAX"

After I pointed out some errors, and want those pages corrected in the FAX I get this.

I am getting sick of all this shit and i think you are just playing me
around, i am not sending anymore fax until i see prove that you or the
club are serious about this deal. I am not ready to waste any more
$$$$ than i have already done, and i told you that i and my wife
already have issues with it because now i am on limited income, so if
you want to proceed is either you send part payment and when i get
that i will be fully convinced that my money won't be in vain but
right now i am not doing anything.

Of course, he could by lying, but I rather suspect this scam is starting to hurt him financially.

I have pointed out that the condition that the details needed to be FAXed were pointed out to him 2-3 months ago, and he should have opted out then if he did not want to send the FAX. I have now received an

As a long term FleXtel user myself, I can believe his $50 USD claim. Fees for calling FleXtel numbers are extortionate!

Yes, I would not be totally surprised if his claim of spending $50 on sending a FAX is genuine.

He does seem to be noticing that this scam attempt is costing him money. He has called me 225 times now, although not all of which I have answered. But I'm guessing a third would have been answered, so that's at least 70 phone calls he has had to pay for.

I'd love to know how much this scam is costing him.

I rather suspect this scam is starting to hurt him financially.

The lad made his decision to try to scam. It has risks. He could go to jail. He is being let off lightly with a lesson that you are giving him.

Get him to exhaust his resources. That may contribute to him giving scumming away. Or at least he has much less reserves to scam a real victim.

This is my first bait, and I am having great fun. Although I reaise that wasting his time is a good thing, as it gives him less time to scam others, the fact I am costing him so much money makes it even more fun.

Despite him saying in an email

"I am getting sick of all this shit and i think you are just playing me around"

he continues to phone me, and has agreed to send more pages via FAX!

I'm sure if I thought someone was playing me around, I would not spend more money dealing with them. But I guess the scammer has committed so much money, that he can't afford to take a chance and lose out, when he thinks payment will be soon.
