If your baiter character resides in the San Blas Islands archipel (Panama), all payments to the lads can be done in coconuts!

I've been to Panama several times and done some business with the Kuna (or Cuna) - mostly purchasing their distinctive art form, the mola, and other art works. The girl in the photo below is wearing a mola shirt.

I've always paid in USD. Maybe they use coconuts amongst themselves. I doubt if they would have taken coconuts from me. Very Happy

They are a charming people, very small in stature.

^^^ My aunt and uncle used to vacation there and brought similar mola shirts back for me. Drove my mother crazy when I wanted to wear them for class pictures or our individual pictures. One time she refused to let me wear one, so I cut my own bangs!! -- and sneaked out to the bus with my cowgirl shirt on.

A lot of the molas the Cuna sell in Panama these days are produced for the tourist trade and they are not particularly well crafted. I have some older ones that were originally produced for their own clothing (such as what the girl is wearing) that are exceptionally intricate and beautiful pieces of hand stitching.

If the lad comes from Ivory Coast (who have started exporting coconuts again after the troubles) and your character came from San Blas then this would be a definite 'Coals to Newcastle' bait.

In a similar vain, I'm claiming to be from a club on the Island of Jersey. I gave the lad a selection of currencies he could be paid in.

My lad does not realise that Jersey Royals are in fact a potato and not a currency.

Inspired by this I offered to pay one of my lads in our local currency, the Dog Pound. He seems happy as long as I go quickly to WU and send the money.

Unfortunately WU doesn't have Dog Pounds in its currency payment form. Oh dear, I seem to have so many problems with WU ... Rolling Eyes
