I came across this site when doing a search for scammers as i was plagued by them on a dating site. I have read the main stickies and have decided to get back at some of the b**stards. I joined up at 4ppl and sure enough after a few minutes they sent me messages. I sent a couple of 'nice' replies to one of them and only 2 messages later received this:-

I promise you all that makes up a defined and a refined LOVE. Your response to my mail has driven me to give you more detail about me. I am really sorry about my late reply to your mail Though it is not left for me to say, but I know that I am an honest girl, trustworthy, truthful,loving kindness, open minded, intelligent, easy going, faithful and caring

I decided to contact you after reading your profile because of the urgency of my situation here.I am Wumi Abdul the only Daughter of late Mr and Mrs Geogre Abdul. My father was a very wealthy cocoa and Gold merchant in Abidjan Cote d`Ivoire, the economic capital of Ivory Coast, however he was poisoned to death by his business associates in one of their outings on a business trip.My mother died when I was a baby and since then, my father took me so special.

Before the death of my father on January 2008 in a private hospital here in Abidjan, he secretly called me on his bedside and told me that he has the sum of US dollars (US$12,500.000) Deposited with a security company in Abidjan Cote d`Ivoire,that he used my name as his only Daughter for the next of kin in depositing of the fund.
He also explained to me that it was because of this wealth that he was poisoned by his business associates. That I should seek for a foreign partner in a country of my choice where I will transfer this money and use it for investment purpose such as real estate management or hotel management.Dearest, I am honourably seeking your assistance in the following ways:
1) To provide your telephone and fax number including your full house address where the box will be delivery.
2) To serve as a guardian of this fund since I am only 22 years old.
3) To make arrangement for me to come over to your country to further my education and to secure a resident permit for me and
my brother in your country.
Moreover, I am willing to offer you 15% of the total sum as compensation
for your effort input after the successful transation of this money and 5% for expenses
Furthermore, you have to indicate your options towards assisting me as I believe that this transaction would be concluded
within fourteen (14) days

As i am new to this 'game' can someone advise me as to what step to take next. Being such a blatant scam as it is what are the best options. Thanks in advance

First and most important question: Are you using real- life information on the dating site? It is very very important to use totally fictitious information and an untraceable (fastmail or gmail) e-mail account.

A simple "Hello, I am interested." should suffice. There's a common belief that scammers often don't read the first reply, so by typing out a long message, at best you'd be wasting your time; at worst the scammer will drop you because they're too lazy to read it all.

Oh, and welcome to 419eater.
Be sure to go over to Eater University and read some of the threads over there, and be sure to well acquaint yourself with some of Shiver's baits in the Letters Archive. They're both entertaining and informative. A good starting place for anyone new to 419 scambaits.

I am on the dating site, but i picked this scammer up on the 4ppl site where i created a totally fictitious name etc. I also created a new gmail account for the 'baiting'. I don't think i can be traced to the dating site from 4ppl

Make sure you use completely false information, and make 100% sure that you cannot be traced to anywhere else on the internet.

Your account here and your baiting e-mail address should not even be linked. Completely false and completely unrelated information for each, because you have to remember that these people are heartless criminals with no scruples and would likely cut your throat for a tenner.

Just start slowly, chances are that they won't even read your responses for the first few emails.

I usually ask a question in each of my early emails. You can tell they are actually reading your emails when they address the question you ask.

Have fun, this gets quite addictive when you get into it Smile

And the main idea of scambaiting is to waste as much of the scammer's time and resources as possible. Feel free to ask questions at every stage, no matter how trivial; ask one question per e-mail if you want.

And while it can be very tempting, try not to send two emails to the same scammer in 24 hours. Make them wait, as they'll almost certainly be using an internet cafe where they are paying (probably) by the hour.
Drag it out as long as possible; the more baiting you'll do, the better you'll get at it.

The CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP DOCUMENT will only cost you 450euro to get it from the HIGH COURT OF JUSTICES HERE IN COTE D IVIORE through the company lawyer and as soon as the change of ownership is done in your name the security company will proceed the delivery of the box to your address without any problem.

Telephone numbers don't include house addresses. Rolling Eyes

Make up an address (a nonexistent number on an existent street, or a nonexistent but plausible street) somewhere far from where you are, and send it to the lad. I've never yet told a lad a phone number. Also ask what "liase" means. It sounds like the name of an enzyme.

When I'm experiencing the equivalent of a writer's block I usually spice things up by slowly introducing a new character to the proceedings. The possibilites are endless with new characters. Wink

I find that if I email to slow I lose them sometime. I agree on making them waste their time but I usually send 1 or 2 a day to each of my lads to keep them hooked. I am very vague so my responses so they stay on the line.

@maccadanny If you are responding to the post above you, you can just use ^^^^^^ instead of quoting the text. Keeps things neat and more tidy. Wink

@metallic Sometimes I don't respond for 3 or 4 days, some even 10 days and the lads still stick around -- looking for the promised "payday". One lad I stopped emailing and about 4 or 5 months later he picked up right where we had left off.

Ideas to introduce a new character:

(a) Your spouse/neighbor/significant other found the e-mails on your computer. This person wants to take over the transaction. Murder is a possibility.

(b) Original character dies. His/her administrator contacts the scammer " I am administering the estate. It is a huge headache! So many assets - I cannot imagine how this guy accumulated so much money in his life. And, he kept no records.... Anyway, I know he had a business deal with you. Would you please explain what is going on?"

I am so sorry i have not sent you mail recently but i was victim of a bad person here in my country. I show you pic of what happened to me. This man he robbed me and stole my cell phone. I am sorry my darling that is why i cannot give you my number yet. I am waiting for the police to catch this man so they can return my phone to me. I hope you can still love me and are not too upset with my bruised and battered face.
