Martha's twin sister came to our backdoor 7 years ago full of fleas, worms, starving and pregnant. She is the smartest cat I've ever seen in my life. It took me a year to teach one of our cats to do "The Lassie". That's where a cat sits down and raises a paw for a treat. She saw it once and modeled the behavior instantly. I taught it the lion tamer trick of getting the cat to jump from one chair to another in just a few minutes. Its only problem is that it was an outdoor cat and it wants to go out and kill things. We have to keep the cat indoors because if we were an hour late with breakfast or dinner it would kill something and bring it to back door. It must have thought we were going through some tough times.

A cat I know fetches - he invented it himself and keeps bringing back his toy for more. The owner says that the cat thinks he's actually a dog.

^^^ Is it a colorpoint shorthair or a mixed Siamese? I've had two that did and we have a new addition to the house that is a very mixed, shelter rescue Siamese that almost fetches. He brings paper balls back but makes me reach for them.
