We all know how frustrating it is to make a difference but here is some great news!

Emmanuel Ekhator, someone that we've been tracking for years has finally been
arrested. He was arrested in Benin City last year and taken over night by an armed
guard to a maximum security prison in Lagos.

He tried several times to bribe his way out but with the western worlds press taking
a keen interested, thankfully it didn't work!

He was deported to the USA a few weeks ago and will stand trial for scams totalling
$32m, he's lucky, it was a lot more than that!

The good news for us is that he's only the third person that has been extradited to
the west for 419 crimes, this by a long way for the largest amount.

The US Marshall who flew to Nigeria to take Ekhator back to the US said that whilst he found Ekhator to be very
intelligent, he didn't grasp the fact that all the crimes that he'd committed would be added together. He's facing a term
of 205 years! I wonder how long it might be if he pleaded not guilty ;o)

Wow mugus in their natural habitat! Well I hope, he makes all sorts of new "freinds". He has all sorts of time to make them.

A possible 200 + sentence? I think someone could get very chatty. I hope more arrests are pending.

$32M. He must be an extremely successful scammer, or a part of a successful gang. Good to see him behind bars.

While it's wonderful that this scumbag is getting the treatment he deserves, the cynic in me believes that EFCC hands over 1 or 2 of these people to get the US off its back, while condoning (or at least not condemning) the activities of hundreds of thousands of smaller players.

To answer the question about recovering the money, they may recover a little bit but not all. Most of the money has already been distributed and spent.

The funniest things about the comments from the “lad huggers” are, one the real lack of a surge of support for this bozo. Another would be a misunderstanding of the American justice system works. From what I have seen, federal prisons rate from “really bad” to not really that bad, also consider the two hundred year sentence. Where he goes and how long he goes depends on how “cooperative” the defendant is.

He could end up serving a relatively small sentence in a not so bad institution as long as he willing to give up enough people.

His friends should be very very nervous now.

You could be right but I do know that LE have sequestered 6 luxury properties in Canada, USA, UK, Italy, Nigeria and Kenya.

They have also frozen over 20 of his personal bank accounts so we can hope that his victims will get some recompense.

To any mugus who comes here. I hope the thought of a kingpin talking to LE keeps you up at nights. Right now police could be unraveling a path that leads to you.

I happens all the time here in America, one person gets arrested, then facing hefty time starts talking, then even more arrests. These arrests lead to even more people talking, a chain reaction of sorts.

Soon very soon the police could be knocking on your door!

If the judge wrote up the sentence correctly, I would like to think that he would specify that this criminal would have no access to a computer or internet while in prison, else he could be back to old tricks. Of course, the criminal might say that is "cruel and unusual punishment" since other prisoners have access to computers and internet.

Excellent news! Another one bites the dust.

I've heard scammers are low prioritized by other inmates in prison (but don't quote me on that) so he might have a pretty hard time behind the steel bars.

^ good point up there, he may get time off or privileges for good behaviour. Good behaviour would almost certainly include cooperating with the ongoing investigation and selling his old mates out. Leave the light on, mugu.

I would have assumed that internet usage by federal inmates would be at least somewhat monitored... If that's not the case then I'm a little unsettled - scams would not be the only potential danger. Confused
