Many disasters around the world will be and are being used by filthy scammers for there next of kin formats. Big disasters like the Japanese earthquake and the Tsunami in the Indian Ocean make guymen drool as they see the possibilities. In big disasters rich and poor are afflicted alike, But it is often the rich ones that gets the scammers attention. They "have" trunk boxes lying around left and right it seems.

The shootings and bombing in Norway a few months back will most likely not yield any formats as most of the victims where young and therefore not presumed to be very wealthy. Something the scammers is likely to understand as well.

Todays accident in Russia though, is a different matter. Firstly i want to express how distraught i was cause of the crash. Many of the worlds best hockey players perished in the accident. Among them Swedish top goalie Stefan Liv which naturally affect me as a Swede. My thoughts go to the friends and family to the dead.

But as i baiter it didn't take me long to realize the opportunities for the scammers. A plane filled with Hockey players. From one of the best teams in the worlds second best league, and a money filled league i might add. This means that most of these players was wealthy which is probably going to be used to a great extent. I think that we do not have to wait for the first Russian hockey player NOK or/and Trunkbox scam to start flying around.

^^It was indeed a tragedy that is sure to tear the heart out of the Kontinental League. Sad

I will watch for the NOK emails. If any IP addresses trace back to Africa I will be sure to pepper my replies with plenty of hockey banter. My guess is the typical west African lad's knowledge of hockey is about the same as my understanding of quantum physics.

Yes, they probable don't even know what it is in many cases. But they do grasp the concept of disasters and how to best use them. But as you said, their grasp of hockey is not good, and giving them tons of hockey references if they come around would be a nice way to bait them.

It was a horrible accident, and I'm sure you're right in saying that there will be NOK scams coming out of it. I'll be baiting every one that comes my way, and filling the baits with as much hockey talk as I can.

the most disgusting thing is when they use existing photos from the news to support their scams.
the famous picture of the terminally ill man is still circulating around till today.
i wouldn't be surprised if they use photos of the plane crash.

Ready for the "face-off" here and no "icing" allowed! Wink

People in the aircraft re-fitting industry call those Russian planes "throwaway" airplanes. They do not do maintenance and if something goes wrong, they toss the engines and put in a new/used one. Another term in the aircraft re-fitting business about those planes is "POS" (I think y'all can figure that out! Wink

Dr. Mike - If you have a list of the crash victims, it might be worthwhile to post it in the forum - when the inevitable "NOK" formats begin to arrive, maybe some victim will google a name, find a link to 419eater, and be warned!

I think that you would get to many web pages other than this if you searched for one of the players names. But that being said it is not a bad idea as you can put more than one word in to Google and that would perhaps lead you here.
