I've just managed to get a lad to give me his bank account details (or at least promise to give them in the next e-mail) after he decided that he didn't want to fill in a <a href="http://www.box.net/shared/s5n949krjxj1hje955gf">ridiculous MoneyGram form</a> I made for him. After I've reported this to Artists Against 419 is there any way of knowing that the account has actually been shut down?

Bank details need to go to Al@n. There is no verification system, just find excuses for a few days and tell him it won't work.

Don't I just hand in account number/sort code at the AA419 website? Sorry I'm ignorant on the subject but I've obviously never done this before.

And once you've reported the details to Alan there is no way of knowing if it was shut down. Unless he needs more information, you likely won't get more than an auto-respond from Alan (and sometimes not even that). From what I understand, some banks are more cooperative than others, and the less cooperative ones are often reluctant to shut down accounts. I've gotten one account 6 different times from 6 different lads over a 5 month period, so there are some cases where despite plenty of evidence the bank still won't take action.

Well in the end there's no more evidence than the fact that I say I've received the details. As soon as I get the details (if he does indeed give them to me) I'll pass them on to Alan and hope that the account is shut down. And hope he gives me a long string of accounts after that to shut down too.

AA419 is for fake sites, and yes if the domain is fake there is a good chance it will be shut down.

His troubles has just begun. If he refuses to fill out the forms required for the US branch of MoneyGram then no fear! My cousin in the UK has given him his fee (£469.22 / $750) instead. No need to fill out those pesky forms in the UK. Now he's going to be disappointed when he goes to the MoneyGram office fake receipt in hand!

how about an eater-thread, where we can write down, which bank is very cooperative with alan and which one is not. this could give a hint for future baits, if laddy will loose his account within the next day or if he does not loose it.

I like that idea, but the only problem is that the only person who really knows all that is Alan. I wouldn't really want to ask him to take the time to compile such a lengthy list of all the banks he's communicated with. That would be a lot of work, and we ask him to do a lot already.

so the only reliable source is the lad himself, who suddenly tells about problems and switches to another account.

normally lads are lying, but in this case, i would trust him as a lad would normally never tell you to stop a transfer in order to switch to another account (as it's his goal to make you send him money)
