Hello everyone,
Unfortunately during the process of looking for an apartment, I was almost taken for a ride by a rental scam. Basically send money first, wont show apartment, and "I am out of the country right now"

I have been very stupid and being a noob at apartment hunting, I have let my guard down. At this point they know my name, where I work, and my phone number and current IP.

I guess my question is, what should I do?
I am hesitant to bait them as they could potentially find me. But I would be very willing to hand out the information I have on them now.

Just drop them.

You are right in thinking you shouldn't bait them--it would not be safe baiting.
But there's no reason to worry about the info you did give them. They can get the same information about tens of thousands of people who openly post it on twitter, facebook, etc.

Because you initially responded, your information may be shared/sold among scammers, so you may see an increase in the number of scam approaches. But it is unlikely that anything beyond that will happen.

If the scammer's information is not already posted over at scamwarners.com, posting it there will help others to avoid falling victim to the same scammer.
