I wasn't making the point about the thread, i was pointing to the fact
that i had recomended a hotel for you and thought maybe you had missed
it.

If i remember correctly, there is one or two hotels right on the Dam, but even without looking up the prices, they will be bloody expensive! Look for a hotel a bit further away, and use the tram lines to travel through Amsterdam. The city isn't that big, not like London or Paris. |

The Vampire is probably correct. You don't really want to stay in a hotel on Dam square because it will be bloody expensive.
Relatively cheap hotels will probably be located outside of the canals. Tram lines in Amsterdam are pretty good, so I'd look for a hotel outside of the canals and then use the trams to get to the center.
Alternatively, you may look for a hotel near train station Amsterdam Amstel
This takes you outside of the center. And there's a train every fifteen minutes that takes you to Amsterdam Central in 5 minutes plus there's a tram line in the direction of Central which goes even more often. Being outside the center probably makes the hotels cheaper as well, and Amsterdam Central isn't a bad place to start your day trips, because I have the feeling that the tram lines radiate out from central station. |
