So glad I was not around until 1990. Especially since 1987 was when the extremely annoying Ric-Roll song came around. |

Actually, watching some of the old Live Aid clips of Bowie, Minds, Queen got me wondering - are there any stadium acts at the moment? I can't imagine NDubz or similar being able to hold a stadium crowd without looking a bit pony by comparison. Was it just a genre thing, or do rap people do stadium shows and I'm just too disinterested to know about it? |

Megadeth. Metallica. Death. Yngwie Malmsteen. NES. E.T on the Atari 2600.
Everyone thought that the future (read, the present) would have robots following us around cleaning up after ourselves. As i robot myself, I can safely assure you, no. No robot will ever clean up after you. You lazy slob.
What's was I talking about again? Oh, yea. the Atari ST. The HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE sci-fi. Back the the Future, where they spend most of their time trying to get back to the Present...... SOOI, get back to the cage while we're on the subject!
Now, what I don't like about the 80's: Neon clothing. Oh my sweet heavy metal band, why oh why did you insist on wearing leather and/or spandex pants so tight I can see every hair follicle, then top it off with some big floppy pink socks with green shoe laces and yellow t-shirts????
Okay. I've ranted enough. Who wants to grab some YUMMY MUMMY and watch Bill and Ted? |

Eminem and Jay-Z have recently performed stadium shows and both have
also headlined major U.K. festivals in the last couple of years.
@The Dane
AC/DC, great band, but not the same after the sad demise of Bon Scott.
I saw them at Wembley Stadium in 1979 as one of the support acts to
The Who. They were immense and The Who was a bit of an anti-climax
following them. I'll never forget Bon running through the crowd on the
pitch at Wembley with Angus on his shoulders. Happy days |

Graduated high school in 1991. I miss new wave (New Order), industrial (Ministry, Front 242), Goth (Bauhaus), metal (Motley Crue Def Leopard). There are so many bands I could name! I was trying to identify myself back then but I learned to like a lot of different types of music.
I remember going to Belmont in downtown Chicago, going to Medusa's, and buying my first pair of combat boots. My mom took those boots from me. |

National radio and TV then, before private TV via cable and dish became widespread or even legally allowed here, were just boring then but not annoying
Wow, even movies were uninterrupted.
Other than that, I don´t know, do I miss much? Would I want to go back to elementary school again? Having the iron curtain border back again in almost shouting distance. I guess not.
I don´t miss much from the eighties. Even the TV series are re-re-re-rerun
E.T. was bad on the 2600. An abomination. But I loved it. Also my C64. Still play it from time to time thanks to emulation.
I miss these informal kiddie gaming sessions and the informal meetings on the football playing ground and in town. |

Miss the 80s? Surely you jest.....
And @Mr. Tambourine Man & Morgain: The 60s? Seriously? Sure I'd love to be that young again, but the late 60s were horrible times to live through. I definitely do not miss that turmoil, despite the great music of the era. |

The music of the era would have been crap without the turmoil. Disco proves my theory. |

While they may not have been good for everyone, the late 50's and early 60's were some of my happiest years. It is true during those times I lived on a farm and the early 60's I had just graduated, was working happily in Wash DC and became a Navy wife living on a Navy base, far removed from the events of the time. However, I do not discount the troubled times that were then, but they did not affect me. |

1950s and early 1960s, sure. Those were good times.
It all started going downhill after JFK was killed, but it really wasn't until 1968 that everything blew up in our faces. |

Ah, so my younger brother is to blame, that's the year he was born.
OK people look at my current avatar, the 1970's was the most crappy of decades, just for the fashion alone. But for other reasons the whole decade sucked hard. Sure the 80's had stupid fashion and music, but it was nothing like the 1970's |
