In the last few months I have noticed that they are sending nothing more than a header with a .txt, .zip, and other attachments.

... and the zip contains a virus! Evil or Very Mad
I guess sending their script as an attachment is slightly faster than copy-pasting it into the message, and in an internet café time is money.

I think it's easier to avoid spam filters by sending .txt .pdfs .doc files
