There was a program on tv a few years back, about some boy scout who built a nuclear pile in his back garden. He collected enough radio active material from the luminous dials off of old clocks to emit dangerous levels of radiation but it was never going to go critical.

Next time try an aluminium bar, I can't say you won't get horribly injured, but you'll get what you were looking for.
What really worries me to be honest is the fact that all these amateur scientists DO NOT achieve fission. They keep going on about how it was safe etc, yet they can't achieve the needed reaction (a reaction that is nowhere near 'fringe' science anymore), this makes me more sure that they have f_ck all idea on what they are doing...and wonder how much radiation they may have exposed others to.

I just want to make it clear. This man is not representative for the Swedish general population. Generally people from southern Sweden are a bit more stupid than the rest of us. |

I must admit to being a little disappointed when I discovered that the orange pigment used in Clarice Cliff was not in fact highly radio active and posed no threat whatsoever. It was just a horrible urban myth.
