How can I prove that my lad is somewhere? I have worked up a WIMP with one of my lads and I think I have got him to travel but I cant prove it.
He is using gmail and so I used the spyp1g to find him. Initially his IP was in togo. He now claims to have travelled to ghana to pick up my WU payment but his IP still points to togo. I got him to give me the name of the hotel he is in and the manager confirmed that he is there, although that could be part of his scam.
Is there any way to definitively prove where he is?

Always assume your Lad is lying.. If the IP says he is in Togo, he probably is.

Did he give you the name of the hotel and the number? Did you check if that is an actual hotel?

Pfft. these lads, can't trust em...

I think he needs slapping, because your WU terminal puts him in Togo....doesn't it? Wink

It is a real hotel, and the manager replied to my email regarding the visitor by the name of my lad.
I might have to blag him a bit about the transactions being collected already or something, make him think he is being chopped.

That's not really easy. You could, however, demand a photo from him, standing in front of a building, or the airport, or a monument in Accra (supposing that he claims to be in Accra). Google has found some pics of places in Accra for proof.

Pictures can be faked, of course, and certainly would. But it would keep him busy for a while.

You could as well demand a scan of his passport, showing the Ghana immigration. Needs also some time to fake....

He wont send me pictures, he has been very cagey until i tricked him into using a yahoo account which confirmed his location.
He hasnt travelled yet, I have told him to try the numbers so we will see what he comes up with.
I can sense a dolla chop looming...

He is good this one. Apparently he is accessing the web through his mobile, which is why his IP resolves to Togo when he is actually in Ghana. Still dont know whether to believe him or not.

Tell him WU firewall is blocking his messages! He has to get a new e-mail account with Yahoo ASAP!

Tell him he has to mail you from an internet café or something, because somehow his messages give errors on your WU system. If he mails from a 'landline' that would be solved.

It is well known that cell phone radiations creates TCP/IP header decomposition , resulting in unwanted packet loss and UDP-bouncing..

Can't believe your lad isn't aware of that.

Edit: compare headers from this email to the ones he send you when he says he was back home. If it's the same IP range, you know he's lying.

If he is there and he knows he has to prove to you he is there to get money he will figure out how to send you a picture. I've been in these situations and it is best to just stand your ground. Your not doing anything until he proves he is where he is supposed to be. You trusted he could carry out this simple task but aparently you are working with the wrong partner. You will find someone else.

If he is there he will find a way to prove it. If he is not he will whine and you will know he is not there. If your lucky the threat of competition will get him there but tbh not all lads will travel. Either way you maintain the uperhand.

It's a bit of a long shot, but what is the time gap between the lads [last claimed] email from Togo and the one where he claims to be in Ghana?

Accra - Lome is a good 4 hours.

Factor in Internet cafe search time in Accra (a city he may not be familiar with), and you should be looking at min 5 hours between emails.
Anything less, and I'd be suspicious of him travelling.
Any time gap less than 3 hours and I'd conclude he hasn't travelled.

Unfortunately the evil 4di Kw@m3 stepped in and chopped his dolla, he collected £1700 of the £2000 and then had the cheek to email my lad and gloat about it. How rude!
