Hello, I'm a fairly new scambaiter and new to the 419Eater community.
I baited a few months ago but stopped because I lost ideas but now I'm back to annoy scammers Laughing

I hope I'll get to know everyone here and learn some ways to improve my B8ing skills.

Love the site! I've been doing a lot of work over at a tech forum, in their BST (Buy/Sell/Trade) section - mostly warding people off of scammers and getting bad traders banned etc.
Suffice to say I wasn't a very nice person when I was younger, but you could say I'm reformed now Wink

I've been using my "expertise" to stop people getting scammed and it looks like I've found a new hangout!
To be honest, I was completely unaware of scambaiting but it sounds right up my street - if I can get a bit more time on the PC every day, I'll be joining you all in getting these f*ckers!

Newbie here, had signed up back in 2006/7 some time but have long since lost my log in details.

I've tried my hand at scam baiting, but found out that I enjoy reading others scambaiting adventures even more. Wink

I'm fluent in Photoshop, so I'd love to help out some baiters should they need a face pasted on another photo or placed in a precarious situation. Just let me know.

For a fake address, pick a real city, then either pick a street from a neighboring city that doesn't have the same name as a street in your city, or pick a real street and a nonexistent number. This may take some searching in county GISes, which are various (part of my job is looking up lots in the GISes of my county and some neighboring ones).

For phone numbers, there are some services where you can set up a phone number that doesn't have your name on it. For a fake one, take the NPA (area code) of your city and pick an unassigned NXX (the next three digits). I have a phone number database and can write a web app to do this; is anyone interested?

I've got an address on a vacant lot in the industrial section of a particular harbor town. I'll check it every once in awhile to make sure nobody's built there, however I'm sure they won't since it's miles from any residential area. Found it by zooming into a particular city from Google Earth.

Been to the town and seen the lot. It's not in the most desirable neighborhood.

^^ Even vacant lots are owned by someone and snail mail usually will get re-directed to the owner/taxpayer of the property. I learned that working in a civil engineering firm where we had to track down owners of vacant property. So if perchance some snail mail where to go there it might involve an ITP.

i either use a name generator, or use fictional character names

john watson, stephanie brown, richard greyson, or whoever you want

Hello everybody. I'm new here but I've had to put up with a lot from scammers over the years. At my last job we were inundated by scammers. Includign one who tried to check scam with our details. We tracked him down and told the local authorities but we never heard how it ended.

Anyway already started baiting (safely) and look forward to some good times.

The last time I acted as an US citizen, my postal address was 26 Federal Plaza, New York, NY 10278-0004. That's the location of the NYC FBI outlet.

I like also using the street addresses of cemeteries.

But in future, please don't give details of the FBI or police headquarters to the lads. It's something we call the ITP rule - don't harass innocent third persons. The FBI has plenty of work to do and we don't want to waste their time with prank calls or letters.
Please don't be offended; just make up a fake address when the lads want to know where you live. Razz

Hey peeps, Starwolf08 here. Long story about the nick that doesn't relate to the videogame character if someone is wondering, although I might need a change since it's the callsign I use in nearly every game I play online.

No one in my family has ever been scammed by 419s, but that doesn't stop me from thinking they are scumbags... And since scamming is perceived as an easy way to earn money, I think it's completely reasonable to put some difficulty to the task, namely as much as it's in one's hands. No second thoughts, no regrets: Make the scammers become the victims.

I still have to browse through the baiting guidelines although I have some ideas I'd like to develop and put to the test with one of our lab rats.

Rats. How appropriate!

You'r right, Jeannette, of course - the law enforcment agencies etc. have really serious work to do. I used the FBI's New York address only once in a business communication with a distingished barrister from Lagos...

But what do you think of street addresses of cemeteries? I mean, there's nobody really alive to receive letters. Or the street address of a sport stadium? (I borrowed this idea from the movie "Blues Brothers", featuring the unforgotten John Belushi with Dan Akroyd as Jake & Elwood Blues).

Welcome new peeps! Make sure you're baiting safely, read the stickies, sign up for a mentor, etc.

I wouldn't use any ITP address, even cemeteries. They are often owned and maintained by private associations or companies, so the mail will be directed to them. Same for stadiums, they have huge public relations offices, so mail will wind up in the hands of an ITP. As has been said, a random address generator is a good bet.
