Hi all
Quack!
Am beginning an online ongoing convo with someone who tells me they are in Brazil and that they think I am the woman of their dreams. Not too sure about him yet but I think he is a scammer. Mind you, he could just have incredibly good taste! 
Is Brazil a common area for scammers or what? |

I haven't met any, but that doesn't mean that there aren't any scammers there. Why not try and get a mail addy out of him and start a correspondance? And if it isn't Gmail, then track him. He could very well be sweating in a dirty cyber in Lagos.  |

So am I ok using a gmail? How can I trace where he is? How do I do this???????? Sorry to ask questions but I am a girly.......well a duck actually, but a female one & we ducks don't do tech stuff. |

Copy the entire header of the lad's (?) email. Go to www.iptrackeronline.com (you find a link at the very bottom of this page). Click the button near the top of the page that says "EMail Header Analysis." The next page will display a box to paste the header. Push the "Submit header for analysis" button and it will return the originating IP addresss and the city and country where the email originated.
As TheDane alluded, it will not work for Gmail, which masks IP addresses. It will show the originating IP in Mountain View, California, where Google has their HQ. |
