Ideas for check baiters

I don't usually check bait, but for those of us who do, I have a couple of thoughts (be sure to use a safe drop box, such as the ones provided by premium 419eater membership!)

(a) Write the mugu the following: "I got your check in the mail. I know I was supposed to cash it and send you the money but - I have to admit - I have a gambling problem. I spent it all on lottery tickets. Now - brace yourself - I WON. Two point six million dollars $2,600,000!!! I am going to send you 1/2 of it because you made me rich.

(b) Follow up with lottery clearance forms, etc. for the mugu to complete. Maybe a tax form or two.

(c) A reporter from the local rag wants a telephone interview to talk about his good fortune - is he willing to be interviewed? Maybe one of our members can dummy up a newspaper article about "Mystery Man in Africa to Split Lottery Winnings".

(d) Get account info to transfer his 1.3 million cut - it is obviously too big for Western Union to handle. Forward account info to Alan.

(e) Then - the bad news e-mail: "The bank just called and your check is bogus. I have used some of the $2.6 million to reimburse the bank. Because you sent me a bogus check - I am keeping it all."

The wails of anguish will be heard all over Lagos.

Well, the original bait would be the mugu sending a bogus check to you to cash, with you keeping 20% or whatever....And, of course, you can send Alan a scan of a totally bogus check.

Errr ... where did you get this check from exactly? Bait Safely rule #101 handling fraudulent checks is an offense, be very very careful!

Also getting mail forwarded to you from drop boxes is not always possible.

This bait will work without you actually receiving a cheque, we can have him send it to a fake address. Just say "It's arrived". The lad will never know the difference.

N N N - Go back and re-read my first two sentences of post #1 in this thread. I reminded people to use a safe drop box, or a premium box, if they intend to receive a check.

Second, I did not tell anyone to actually cash the check. Admittedly, I did not tell anyone to deface the check with the word "FRAUD" or something similar, but that issue is covered in a number of different ways on this board - if the check baiters are not already familiar with this procedure, they should be.

Very good ideas BRUIN! I will add to the arsenal.

@NNN several of us bait lads for checks. I have filled the US dropbox with several. I don't care about getting the checks I just want the lad to see it was signed for when he checks the tracking. That's all you need for the bait to work.

I was always wondering what would be a great idea after receiving the cheque.
Until now paying my bills with the money brought me some nice capital letter mails and Europol should have around a dozen warrants for me by now Wink

^^I think I have been reported to IC3 a time or two. I love it when they acuse you of stealing from them like the email below. Now I will reply with BRUIN's lottery idea.

My basic philosophy is to try to use the mugus own modalities against them - hence, since they use a lottery winning modality on their victims, I was casting about for some way to inflict a lottery win upon a mugu.....

Further thought on this idea:

(a) Be sure to introduce multiple baiting characters. Besides the reporter, previously mentioned, you will probably need someone from the Federal Administration of Lotteries and Savings Enforcement ("FALSE") who will have lottery clearance forms for the mugu to fill out.

(b) After you break the news to the mugu that the money is not coming, the reporter can call the mugu back to say "I just heard the news! I was horrified that you are being treated in this way by [insert original baiting characters name]. You deserve the money you were promised. Can I give your e-mail address to a good friend of mine, who is a barrister, who can sue this greedy person and get you the money you deserve!"

(c) Then your barrister contacts the mugu - - and the lawsuit begins....
