i have had a few e mails from a soldier in Afghanistan asking me to take delivery of a package, he has passed me on to his friend in the us embassy who will deliver the package (£4.3 million) any ideas, help on where its going

I expect the "friend" will be arrested at the airport, and you will be asked to pay a fee for his release.
I hope you are baiting safely, and not using your real life email address. If you are, stop. You can set up a baiting email address ans start again. He won't notice that he's got a reply from an address he hadn't emailed.

What the other said - plus, there are a lot of good and friendly baiters around here, and most of them are eager to help - but before they are able to do so properly, you'll need to post the lads original format and the header of the email - that makes it a lot easier for everyone. Wink

They will request WU, or Moneygram, ignore those, and ask for a bank account to do a bank/Bank transfer. Eventually they will supply one if they think you are hooked enough.

Hello BIKEMAN. I'm a fellow newcomer myself, and this forum is "the" place for learning tricks to use on scammer lads.

Let me share what I have learned: Make your lad explain everything to you in detail, then make him explain it again! Oh, and make him wait and wait for your responses. If he absolutely needs to hear from you by Friday, make him wait until next Monday - and even then you need to ask one more thing before you can send that payment.

I don't know much about baiting, but I've learned this much: If they think there's even the slightest chance of getting money from you, they'll wait!

Welcome, Bikeman. Dittoes to all the advice above. After your lad has explained how Western Union works a couple of times then tell him you don't have a Westy office in your town and you are stumped on how to get money to him. He'll say Moneygram. Make him explain that. Then tell him you don't have one of those either. Very Happy

i have sent several e mails to the address and had replies.
is it an employee using his work address or what?
if its an employee should i let it run for a while then let them know an employee is trying to rip people off?

All your lad is doing is piggy backing on their server. You'll find a lot of .edu addresses as well where they patch into a University server and spam/scam bomb from a phished address.

It is worthwhile reporting to their admin though, and let them know they have a security problem.

well me and my "friend" have been getting along rather well.
he has furnished me with his bank details and i checked the swift code and it is ok.
how do i check the account to see if it works?
do i just send the account details to Alan
i cant see the point in sending me fake details.

This sounds exactly like my first ever bait, Soldier in Afghan, same amount.. Hmm, he also sent me fake details, and yes they do send you them quite alot.

If you havent got a mentor yet, get one now, he'll help you with any problems such as finding if its fake/real details

True that, Bike. I'm no expert at baiting, but I can't see why any scammer would give you bogus banking info. They're in this strictly for the money after all, and a fake bank account would destroy their chances of receiving that money.

If your lad gave you a bank account, you can bet it's real. There's a thread somewhere around here about how to report this stuff to Alan. I can't find it just now, but I think it's in Tips & Tricks, and it explains the whole process very well.

Nobody seems to know exactly how Alan works or who he works for, but he is every lad's worst nightmare come true.

To clarify.

Lads give bogus bank accounts all the time as part of their initial scripts to convence you there is a huge account with millions in it with your name on it. Also to build trust by giving you what looks like confidential information. They look just like the real details you will get later but you get bogus ones before they ask you to send money.

Vs.

If a lad is expecting you to send them money and they give you an account then you can bet it's a real account.

Either read all the newbie tutorials, or get a mentor. You don't need both. When i first started, I read a lot of baits and howto's, then got a mentor and realized i didn't even need one.

But regardless as to whether the account is real or fake, you need to press on. I like to do this:

1. Buy into their bait. Stall a little. Get confused and ask a lot of questions.
2. Get bank info ASAP (Tell them you don't trust WU or MG, give them your fake bank info to expect a transfer from, then ask for theirs.)
3. Soon as you get their bank info, maybe not respond for a whole day or two.
4. Tell them it didn't go through. Time to play some rounds of WU/MG games. Send fake WU and MG receipts. Be sure to complain this is why you don't trust MG/WU, when it doesn't go through.
5. Ask for another bank account to try to send to.
6. Repeat all steps as long as possible.

After step 3. you would be reporting to Alan, checking validity of the bank info, but press on with step 4. I've gotten multiple bank accounts from a single bait before. But for me, that's a primary goal of all this. You know the scammers not only share bank accounts, but also likely have a repository of different ones to use. But I have learned one thing, if you aren't being consistent with trying to give them money, they will tend to know you're messing with them.

Remember a couple of pointers:
-Always get confused and ask a lot of questions.
-Question them in the beginning if this all is legal. And maybe throughout the bait.
-When they want a picture, rename a .mp3 file to a .jpg file and name it "SCAN[date]" and attach it to an email.
-Also if they ask for a picture, say your scanner is broken, look up pictures of people taking pictures of themselves with their cell phones. [Works everytime if you say just took the pic for them and attached.]
-Ask for more forms of ID from them. Question that they really are who they say they are. (Their reaction to this will tell you if they've been baited before.)

Personally, if they send a picture of themselves and it looks like theyre at church with their family, I turn into a Christian psycho and start referring to them as reverend father and quoting made up scriptures from the bible for the remainder of the bait. This pisses them off greatly for some reason.

No need to pick one or the other and I recommend both. Although the general idea of baiting is pretty universal each bait/lad is a little different. Some people are self learners and fine with just reading. Others need a little one on one help and might be a little shy about posting questions. As a mentor it's great when a new mentee comes to you having already read all of EaterU. I know I did but still had questions as they came up that I asked my mentor.
