I don't like being forced into something. Still using FF 3.5 and there's nothing wrong with it.

I use Google Chrome to keep my baiting Gmail accounts totally separate from my (constantly open) business Gmail, which is on Firefox. I find that Chrome is MUCH slower..... It takes two to three times longer to open an email or to wait for the auto-load addressing feature to kick in. We may only be talking about a few seconds but it adds up, and the contrast between Firefox and Chrome is very, very noticeable.

If I understood the article right, google is only going to stop support for older browsers which sounds logical to me.

Removing Google from the internet would be like removing fossil fuels from industry. It's a necessary evil.

Gmail's ok anyway. Even the lads use it. I can't bomb dozens of boxes from my Yahoo accounts without it dumping the message as "suspicious" and wagging its little yahoo finger at me. All I use it for is chatting to lads.

Like A Skinner I did not like FF4 and went back to 3.5. On FF 4 I could not find anything.

Personally I think that this is good thing. My normal browser is Chrome and I find that it does well for me. While I understand that what browser to use is a personal choice it makes development much more difficulty for the little guys. I am just glad to see the big browsers are helping to push development forward even if it is selfishly driven by profit. But then again isnt that something that motivates a lot of us??

Call me an old hypocrite, feel free to do so, I'm an obvious net user who has XP on his system, uses Chrome and still can't trust either Microsoft or Google. Is this a normal feeling I'm getting with my hypocrisy?

I upgraded to FF4 and am sorry I did. I had no problem updating my plug-ins, but this morning I got an update notice for my webmail notifier. I clicked to update it, and BAM--all this stuff started trying to install, and some stuff did install. Then my browser got hijacked. It was "abuchak." There's not much info on it via google but I found out how to get rid of the damn thing.

Not a good way to start the morning, I never had something like that happen until FF4 (which I upgraded to yesterday).

I'm rather happy I upgraded to FF4, I love the tab group functionality.

Also... Good move by google. Try developing a cool website and then getting it IE6 compatible without fucking it up for all the normal browsers.

EDIT: Last time at work I developed something new, asked whether it needed to be IE6 compatible and heard my boss say 'Nah..not necessary', I nearly hugged him and then cried tears of joy.
