Hi Guys.
My close friend has been talking with a guy on facebook who lives in Kenya. They have only been talking a month.
She is falling for him. He writes to her all the time and even has access to her kids pictures and personal information. He makes comments on her children's pictures saying things like "tell them I miss them" or "I wish I was there with you guys"
He has been begging her to get him to America for schooling. He tells stories of his mom dying and him growing up in a school for boys.
I have googled his name and info and he did grow up in a school for kids who's parents died of aids. He also is on a cd of a youth choir over there.
His facebook is 3-4 years old and filled with real pictures of his youth missions, school, friends. He is tagged in many other people's pages, from hanging out with them and being around them. In other words, he seems very legit.
BUT. He also seems very odd and very forward.
Does this sound like a scammer to you? why would he do this through his personal facebook? Is he just not a professional scammer?
HAve you heard of situations like the one I described?

no he hasn't but he has asked her to let him come live with her and her family. He has made statements about wanting money to open an orphanage. He has asked her to connect him to churches who will bring him to america |

Yes, he is a most likely scammer. If he is asking for money to "open an orphanage" then he might ask her to pay via Western Union or Moneygram. I'm sure he is also going to tell your friend to pay a non-existent immigration fee as well. |

He should get his story straight  Emigrating or founding an orphanage.
I guess he is a combination of a scammer and a visa begger - either his contact provides him with a visa and a flight ticket, or if that fails, he gets the money for his "charity". |
