U.S news reporting that Bin Laden was killed last week in a ground operation in Pakistan.

Last week, I thought it had just happened today but I just tuned in, apparently CNN is saying it may have been a CIA operation.

Obama states the operation was authorized last week. Sounds like they killed him today

They had to do DNA testing to make certain it was him. We'll probably never know the details. One of the news agencies was saying it was done the way the movie Black Hawk Down was portrayed.

My guess is that it was the <Name of unit is classified>, generally called the DEVGRU and formally known as Seal Team 6.

This can be interpreted as a seriously negative or seriously positive event. His 'struggle' will continue and be catalysed by his death, and therefore I'm not jumping for joy.

I am surprised he was in a 'million-dollar mansion' but I do recall reading a paper that summarised he was likely hiding in such a place. If only I could find it again...

I will be keeping my eye on the international reaction to this, but again, I'm sure it won't all be positive. Sad

Funny thing was, a respected US commentator on BBC news this morning, claimed to have been sent a picture (I presume that same one doing the rounds) to his mobile, of a dead Osama bin Laden from the father of one of the troops involved.

Just goes to show. There'll be lots more where that came from in the coming days, weeks, months etc...

Well, whenever he died, I'm happy. And for a brief moment we can celebrate. (Honestly I feel nothing wrong with celebrating his death, but that's just me)

But it will be back to work. Like I said before, Iwo Jima was a turning point in WW2, but it didn't end there.
