Karl May is a very famous popular author around here; one of his more well-known characters is "Hadschi Halef Omar Ibn Hadschi Abul Abbas Ibn Hadschi Dawuhd Al Gossarah", sheik of the mighty Haddedihn. He takes lots of pride in his full name and gets angry if parts of it are left out.
So, I tried a while with a mass of mugus, and the "DHL" in Benin are the first who have learnt that pride comes before payment: D

That's not too bad. My apprenticeship (in the 70's) for a weighing machine firm, involved me painting the delivery details of this young Saudi prince on all the parts of a load of weighing machines ready for shipping.
He had the ice cream business sown up there and ordered 40 (or so) 1 ton weighing machines which I had to dismantle, and with enamel paint, write his full name and address on all the parts to make sure they got there. The machines broke down into around eight parts so it was a lot of painting.
His name had about twenty components with about four or five "Bin's" (son of) breaking it up. I could recite his bloody name and address on cue for about ten years after that experience. Thankfully it's completely faded from my memory since.
You could have a laugh getting him to phone, but not put him through to: HAJI HALEF OMAR IBN HAJI ABBUL ABBAS IBN HAJI DAWUHD AL GOSSARA, until he gets the pronunciation spot on. |
